This cat lady image is actually a simple phrase that a lot of people understand in their gut. I’m not saying it’s right. I am just translating. A lot of people don’t care about dissing ladies who cook for themselves. They chuckle. JD is just pointing out different values and priorities.

You guys, these people are good at what they do. They use less words than the Dems.

I strongly disagree. These people have turned conservatism into a culture because they have horrible policy, I get that. It definitely works. Politicizing EVERYTHING has dividends, but they are rapidly diminishing.

And F****** with cat people is where those returns turn into losses. Owning a pet is absolutely not a political thing. We all know Republicans who own cats. There are plenty of unmarried Republican women out there- maybe they are divorced, or widowed, or whatever. And they probably have a pet, and a LOT of people freaking love cats. This is not some tiny insignificant number. This is incredibly stupid.

Wait - we were told not to take the “basket of deplorables” comment literally. Remember that?

A friendly reminder that Hillary LOST a very winnable race. May Trump and Vance suffer the exact same fate! Except they were never going to get the popular vote.

Also, I don’t think I have ever seen ANY commentator who didn’t say that “basket of deplorables” was a huge mistake and that it was one of Hillary’s stupidest statements! You don’t criticize the people you are asking to vote for you! It is a big mistake!

Agreed - but we’ve seen tons of posters here on DCUM who defended that comment and tried to explain it away. Just pointing out (to those people) that Vance’s comment should be taken in the same spirit.

He has put 3 Justices on the Supreme Court to overturn roe v. wade and wants to ban abortion and will impact access to women's healthcare and fertility treatment like IVF.

He is a terrible person by all accounts. Used the n-word and b-word in private. He has mocked a reporter for disabilities, called veterans losers, and been mean, and hostile to women reporters.

He lies compulsively. And threatened to act like a dictator if elected again, praised Putin and Kim Jong Un as great leaders.

He has been convicted of 30+ felonies. He whipped up the traitors who stormed the capital into a frenzy, who chanted "hang Pence" about his VP.

Trump is objectively a terrible man who has done disgusting things. Repeatedly. And lies and takes no accountability. I don't hate many humans, but I can say that based on his actions and lack of accountability and cruelty, I do hate Trump.

Must be Trump's fault, huh?

Illegal immigrant convicted of rape is rearrested by ICE agents after judge sentenced him to just 190 days in jail

A Guatemalan immigrant convicted last month of raping a Maryland resident was arrested yesterday by Immigtation & Customs Enforcement officers.

19-year-old Guatemalan Henry Argueta-Tobar's arrest came after he was sentenced on July 3 to 20 years in prison for second-degree rape.

However, the court then suspended all but 190 days of the prison sentence.

A loudmouth buffoon who will soon be humiliated at the polls again, and then spend what may be the rest of his life in a New York state prison as a 34 count convicted felon facing possibly 14 decades at sentencing, if he doesn’t flee the country first - which I suspect he will. Either way, he’s soon to be gone and won’t be our problem anymore.

But the 50-odd million people who will probably still vote for him this November aren’t going anywhere. And those are the people I really, truly, viscerally despise. Because they gave trump his power. Without these imbeciles, trump would be nothing. He’d literally have the same influence as a crazy screaming homeless man shouting at no one in a city park. That’s what trump would be without the millions of supporters who give him his power. These are the the people I hate. Not trump. trump is just a symptom. His supporters, his sycophants - they are real problem. The disease.

It really made me sad when I came to this realization today, because until now, I assumed that things were going to be awesome after the election and we’d never have to suffer his buffoonery again. But then I realized his supporters aren’t going anywhere. They’re still going to be around regardless of whatever happens to him. And that infuriated me.

I just don’t know how to get past this. I’m just consumed with anger at the realization that probably should’ve occurred to me earlier, but didn’t. I was so consumed with hating trump that I wasn’t able to see who I truly should’ve been hating even more. And now realizing that these people will still be around after he goes away, it just ruins everything.

Very upset tonight. Can barely contain my rage.

His supporters hate America and all that it stands for. They’re also super weird.

Um, it’s progressives who hate America. Everyone knows that. And all the purple-haired weirdos are democrats; not republicans.

Nice try though.

+1
Republicans aren’t out burning American flags and shouting “Death to America!” That would be Democrats.

Nah. They are just carrying a confederate flag through the Capitol.

DP. On one day. That happened on one day by a tiny group of weirdos who have been arrested and jailed. Meanwhile, practically EVERY day, we see LWNJ weirdos defacing statues, burning U.S. flags, raising Palestinian flags (!!?!!), harassing Jewish people, and screaming at anyone who dares to disagree with them. How many of those thugs have actually been sent to prison?

Uhh you can't exactly call those people "Democrats" or "Biden/Harris supporters" when they call Joe Biden "Genocide Joe" and while they heckle Biden, Harris and other Democrats at campaign events. They clearly aren't Democrats. Hate them all you like but they aren't on the ticket to vote against. Harris has nothing to do with them and neither do the Democrats. To base your vote on a belief that they represent Democrats misses the mark by a mile.

Uhh why do you think they were demanding Harris not choose Shapiro? And why do you think they're celebrating her choice of Walz? They got their way because Kamala Harris was too cowardly to stand up to them. Of course they're Democrats. They just prefer the "progressive" moniker.

Agree. I’m Harris / Walz and absolutely voting for them. I’m also repulsed by the pro Hamas / Iran propaganda arm that has overtaken part of the Democratic Party and certainly the brains of so many Americans who wail about “Zionism” and then advance and protest on behalf of Hamas, the Houthis, and Hezbollah. Terrorist groups. These people are just as bad as the MAGAs

These people hate America. They are far, far worse than MAGA.

It’s funny, I’m anti Trump and when I find out someone voted for Trump and supports him I immediately question their intellect and integrity. Harris / Walz allll the way.

But the anti-Israel mob / coalition in the Democratic Party strikes me as one half of the same coin as the MAGA nuts. Ignorant of facts, so deep in hatred (for Jews in this case, though that makes them like many neo-Nazis), and so overtaken by propaganda because they have such a limited grasp of history and world affairs. They see it on Facebook and so it must be true.

You’ve got people like Ilan Omar - literally endorsed by David Duke for her anti Jewish platform. Yeah, go Google it!

And on this, I see very little daylight between the MAGAs and that aspect of the Democratic Party. Hope these nuts stay away from the convention.

Good luck with that. They are already mobilizing and planning their strategy for the DNC.

Intelligent people with common sense don't go around attacking and insulting half of the population and then say "f your feelings" when they get upset about it. Intelligent people with common sense don't immediately accuse the media of "lying" every time they report something that goes against their worldview. Intelligent people with common sense evaluate information from a wide variety of sources rather than retreating down far right wing rabbit holes of conspiracy theories and disinformation. We have no problem with intelligent people with common sense. We have a problem with MAGAs.

DP. Everything you just described can be applied to LWNJs (substituting “left” for “right,” etc). Amazing projection.

Ok.

Yes. Because Trump will mean the end of democratic principles and institutions. My vote is the hope that Harris and Walz will take us through the next 4 years with the country intact.

I think these are "wedge" issues that impact a limited number of people and are not going to be decisive for my vote. If my child experiences gender dysphoria or whatever that is a deeply personal issue that I don't think the government needs to be super involved in anyway. In my office people don't even bother with pronouns in their email signatures anymore, unless their name is ambiguous. However, labor regulations? Air and water quality? Paid sick leave and free lunch for schoolkids? Abortion? These are all things I actually care about.

I’ll have to think about that

Not the first time I’ve heard getting older means becoming out of touch
