This except schools and hospitals are worse. Non profits are businesses, the only difference being that they don’t have shareholders or an owner. I’m not leaving substantial money to one of these organizations.

Michelle Obama had a highly paid sinecure job as a VP of... community affairs? at a Chicago hospital. Not clear what she ever did. Health organizations are filled with sinecure VP/senior exec jobs to tout the diversity credentials among others. Nothing to do with the actual healthcare.

This is inaccurate--and you can easily check the financial records of charities and their ratings on administrative costs. I think people just like to justify being stingy. Why? If you don't want to give to charity, don't. But there are plenty of charities with minimal administrative costs.

Ridiculous! Is that your money too or his? Put your foot down, make arrangements so they can't waste the money in one year, and set your kids up.
This is some idiotic high moral ground nonsense.

I look at this based on age. We had kids in our mid 20s, I'm guessing many of you my same age have small children or even babies while mine currently are in college and we are lat 40s. We will be growing old with our kids. We saved a fund for both for the first home to give them a substantial downpayment. Between paying for college in full, having some for grad school left over and a few 100K for a home when the time comes, they will be set up quite well to be successful. Our inheritance will be spent on them when we are alive still and leftovers will go to grandkids.

You can look all that information up in the financial reports of any charity and choose wisely. There are tools such as Guide Star that help you compare. Hospitals are full of people being paid "hefty salaries" too.
