I'm the poster you're referring to and calling a liar. I think VT is an excellent school, that's popular with a lot of students so demand exceeds availability. I'm not the least bit upset about that. The decisions my DC shared from the party are real. My post was simply questioning possible impact to yield as the current admissions process unfolds. These kids are stressed out and ready to pick a school, get the sweatshirt and start their senior slide. That of course happens every year. But, after seeing a lot of deferrals and straight up rejections from Clemson, Auburn, TN, SC and TCU - schools like VT that are popular and where kids think they should have a decent admissions chance - they're even more anxious. So VT's unexpected release of a few decisions and now possible silence until mid February, coupled with the lack of ED & the delayed FAFSA, may change some calculations.

The story is completely meaningless. Vindictive or not students hold on to their offers until the deadline. The schools know this. They plan accordingly. They don’t send out a new offer as soon as one’s been declined, there’s already redundancy.

SEC is very popular at my kid’s school, especially SC and TN because they are test optional.

I agree that SC and TN are very popular, but most schools are test optional now.

My kid portal said that the email was sent to him on 12/21, but no email was received. We checked inbox, spam, deleted - nothing. Kid sent an email to VT, but obviously it is holidays and no one responds. Is anyone else in this situation?

Oh thanks. I didn’t realize. I know students are applying to SC but not UGA because SC is test optional.

Kind of risky to wait for mid-Feb UVA EA decision, if they want their top choice for lodging at VT.
