Okay?
Someone else might wish their work schedule were 6am to 2pm.
Another might wish their work schedule were 7pm to 3am.
Someone else might wish for a schedule of 12pm to 8pm.
I'm not sure how wishing for a work schedule of 9am to 4pm is relevant to the discussion of school schedules.
The Opinion Police have arrived to tell you you're wrong, PP. Sorry, maybe next time.

You are the only one
The majority of ES teachers at 9:20-4:05 schools would love to start even 20 minutes earlier if it means we are out before 4:00.
My kids went to a 9:20am ES start time and it was so late. One of mine, in particular, woke at 5am regularly and then getting back home at 4:30pm meant the whole evening was rushed. But obviously there are parents who feel the exact opposite 🤷🏻♀️
Why was he waking at 5 am regularly? That’s not normal.
Sure it is for young kids. I know LOTS who woke that early almost up to MS. (Luckily mine did not).
No 5 am is not normal for school aged kids, or even young kids. You have to train them to go back to sleep or stay in their bed until a certain time. 5:00 am is not a normal time for anyone to be up and about, unless it’s an infant getting a feeding but then said infant should be put back to sleep.
That's a ridiculous statement. As long as someone is getting adequate sleep, including all sleep stages in the sleep cycle, there is nothing wrong with getting up that early. 5am isn't even that early for many.people.
Many kids and adults get up early for numerous reasons including:
-- Eating before sun rises during Ramadan
-- Early shift work
-- LDS Seminary classes before school
-- Workout before school/work
-- Swim/dive practice or ice time for skaters
-- Prayer or meditation before the sun rises
-- Long commutes
-- A variety of other reasons
So the religious reasons are only temporary and normally they are not up that early. And they don’t even apply to kids as there are exceptions to fasting based on age, etc. Next. The swim/dive practice and skater ice time is for people extremely dedicated to their sport, maybe high level…not really normal for most folks. Next.
Also, kids do not have to go to work so shouldn’t be getting up at 5 am for “long commutes” or “shift work.” All of your reasons don’t hold up for regular kids. In fact, I’m 100% sure that the PP who says their kid gets up at 5 am regularly isn’t one of the exceptions on your list. So, I stand by what I say which a 5 am regular wake time for a kid is just not normal. Train your kid to go back to bed for another hour.
You have two errors in your response.
1. You originally said there is no reason for ANYONE to get up at 5am. You didn't say "kids."
2. You have gaps in reading comprehension. Read the part that said "kids and ADULTS," which was in response to you saying there is no reason for ANYONE to get up that early.
Additionally, prayer and meditation are certainly not temporary. LDS Seminary is four years of high school, which most would not consider temporary.. Fasting during Ramadan is not temporary (it occurs every year, for a set number of weeks each year), and OF COURSE people who are fasting are up that early because they need to eat, drink, wash, and pray PRIOR to the sun rising. Because you obviously think you know everything, I'm sure you are aware that the sun rises quite early in the spring, so Muslims rise quite early during Ramadan.
Furthermore, your self-righteousness in using the term "regular kids" is appalling. Think about who you exclude when you imply that elite athletes, LDS children, and Muslim children are not regular kids. Your attitude is disgusting.

Meh, NP but people are different and have different circadian rhythms. If someone need 9 hours of sleep, it doesn't really matter if it's 8p-5a or 11p-8a or even split 9p-1a and then 3a-8a with two waking hours in between, as was common centuries ago. What matters is getting enough sleep, and having your sleep schedule be consistent. Your arbitrary assertion that a 5a wake up time is "just not normal" is baseless.
