The army can't watch everyone. Even China has alot of below the surface unrest. Did East Germany and the Soviet Union collapse? And they were some of the most watched countries in history. yes, a Trump presidency would be full of violence but will soldiers shout fellow citizens in large groups? Would rednecks rampage throughout big cities? Some would, but the center would hold. Plus, don't think the billionaire class would be crazy about the economic and tanking, as well as those with 401ks. Tax revenue collapses, how do you fund all of this?

If Biden would close the border and stop the overwhelming immigration democrats would never lose
The GOP cheats in a thousand different ways to weaken Democratic wins.
And FFS Biden is doing everything within the law to close the border. It is the GOP that wants to keep people riled up about immigrants and refuses to legislate. They whine and cry and carry on, but they won’t legislate. The Democrats introduced legislation but the GOP batted it down, because if they fix the problems, what are they going to whine about?
Why would the GOP need to legislate.? There's legislation on it already. That the DNC refuses to enforce law on the books isn't a legislative problem.

I'm really enjoying the entertainment from democrats. Are you not amused about how wild progressives are getting.
Even if I didn't like Trump (which I do), I would vote for him on that reason alone. Have a nice day.
Great, watch the country implode so you can "own the libs". WTF is wrong with you?
The obvious point PP was making is that many see through your continued hysteria and simply take it for entertainment purposes.
For all we know the world won't end when/ if Trump gets elected. Same as if/ when Biden gets elected, even if the guy has proven to be much worse than expected.
Yeah right. Did you actually read Project 2025's manifesto? This isn't some fringe group, this is the leadership of Trump's reelection campaign. Trump is openly channeling his favorite dictators and you think it's all an act to get Dems wound up? Wake the F up.
Maybe you were born yesterday, but all of us who were alive back in 2016 remember the constant hysteria and crazy things said about Trump, the guy who did NOT get involved in any war as opposed to the current trigger-happy dude.
Yes, they said “crazy” things like he would overturn Roe, refuse to leave power peacefully if he lost, cozy up to dictators and weaken our alliances. Totally crazy stuff. Glad we didn’t believe any of that!

Will those who balked at resisting Trump when the risk was merely political oblivion suddenly discover their courage when the cost might be the ruin of oneself and one’s family?
We are closer to that point today than we have ever been, yet we continue to drift toward dictatorship, still hoping for some intervention that will allow us to escape the consequences of our collective cowardice, our complacent, willful ignorance and, above all, our lack of any deep commitment to liberal democracy. As the man said, we are going out not with a bang but a whimper.
We'll continue to see judges realize that Judge Cannon has the right idea, not Judge Chutkan. We'll see prosecutors start to pull punches as they realize they are NOT going to take down their prey, that NO jury will convict the Republican Party's nominee, the future President. No general is going to make any effort to stand in the way of military mobilization towards an American "Night of Long Knives". So like the tentative anti-Trump GOP funders who realized they better switch to Trump, you better get on the right side now if you know what's good for you.

It's like Republicans don't see what they don't want to see.
No, they fully embrace it. This is the future they want for our Republic.
A Christo-Fascist dystopian hellhole where anyone who isn't a white straight male with over $100M in assets is chattel.
This is the part so many republican voters don’t get. They mistakenly think they’ll be part of the protected class. They will not be because they’re not super wealthy. They will slip into lower class in every way.

This. This is what happens in authoritarian states. Most people will continue to have relatively stable lives, while they are frogs in warming water.
Marginalized people will suffer. It will be a sad society for those who are paying attention. People will pay less attention over time because they will be powerless and the press will be less free.
But most authoritarian states are not as diverse as the US and have 335 million people. Easy to control a place like Hungary.
It might not be diverse but China is huge and very controlled. It can be done.
With just a few weeks to plan Trump nearly stopped a joint session of Congress.
They’ve been planning how to do it better for nearly 3 years already.

China has a very different culture. There would be massive unrest in the US, or at the least something like the troubles in Northern Ireland. Do you really think people will lay day and roll over after 235 years of a system of government?
