We wouldn’t be ok with a religion or culture that perpetuates slavery or racism, so let’s not give a religion or culture a free pass to be anti-lgbtq, etc.

This woman was upset after watching news coverage of the Gaza war and decided to attack what she thought was an "Israel school" because it had a Star of David in front of it. So, he drove her car into the building. But, it turned out that the building is actually used by Black Hebrew Israelites, who the ADL and other groups consider to be an antisemitic hate group.
I think DCUM is providing a platform for people to argue in a way that is really unhealthy for our community. If you locked the political section for day it would wonder. I myself have said things in a knee jerk reaction to other hateful comments by users that I have instantly regretted. Please lock it down so we can all take a break and spend time with our neighbors.
Agree.l started a thread that get deleted which pointed out the vitriol and yes, I think a lot is from trolls and bad actors. Maybe we lock this for Thanksgiving (a holiday which I acknowledge has its own problems).

I read about this incident somewhere on this board. Turns out to be a hoax.
In Ohio, Hesham Ayyad, who alleged to be Palestinian, told police he was injured when an Israeli ran him over in a car — an allegation of a hate crime. Police investigated. They found video footage of the incident and determined that he lied, made it all up — he was actually assaulted by his own brother and there was no Israeli, no hate crime. They charged him for making a false report to law enforcement.

And I'd like to see those specific examples, too. However, the ADL in particular has made it clear that they count criticism of Israel or Zionism as antisemitism. Do you think that should be counted as part of the spike? It's a lie and they're using that lie in their commercials and the media is spreading that lie. Why wouldn't you wonder what the specific examples are when you listen to an obscene number over 300%? Would you bet your life they were all incidents of hate towards people for their JEWISH religion or is it someone taking issue w/ Israeli policy.
