In the past week the Democratic Party and other outside groups have put together a team to oppose third-party and independent candidates, a sign that Democrats are ready to fight back against candidacies they perceive as spoiler threats, like Kennedy.
The effort is staffed by longtime operatives like communications consultant Lis Smith, who helped guide Pete Buttigieg’s 2020 presidential campaign, and Dana Remus, who until recently served as Biden’s White House counsel, underscoring the seriousness of the concern.
The Democratic National Committee calls Kennedy a “stalking horse” who will increase Trump’s chances of winning in November. They point to significant contributions from Timothy Mellon, a Trump mega donor, to American Values 2024, and to lingering concerns that in 2016 third-party candidates may have tipped the presidency to Trump.
While Democratic attention was initially directed toward the wide array of third-party contenders, such as independent Cornel West and the No Labels coalition, Kennedy has become the focus of more energy as of late.

No one is blocking ballot access. The states have set rules about signatures and deadlines.
And, the DNC has an army of lawyers working to deny access to third-party candidates.
Another example of the "lawfare" that the Democrats love to engage in.
The anti-third party coalition, whose hub is the centrist Democratic think tank Third Way, has mostly focused on No Labels, given its superior fundraising and organization.
Behind the scenes, insiders in both parties have been pressuring potential candidates not to join the No Labels tickets, warning they would lose and be pariahs in their party, which has contributed to No Labels' struggles to find a credible top of its ticket.
“The growing list of top-tier prospects who have said no is important progress, but we’re going to keep at it until we know if they secured a name for their ticket. They only need one,” Kate deGruyter of Third Way said.
Third Way and the DNC have each separately retained lawyers to file legal challenges against Kennedy and his super PAC for alleged illegal coordination on ballot access. The super PAC said Monday that it would stop gathering signatures on Kennedy’s behalf.
End Citizens United, a campaign finance reform group, has pressured No Labels to disclose its donors and filed its own legal complaints with the IRS and 27 states arguing that No Labels is violating its nonprofit tax status by essentially acting as a political party.
More legal challenges are almost guaranteed, with attorneys actively monitoring third-party ballot access attempts across the country to look for any slip-up that could be exploited.

That’s not blocking ballot access. That’s pointing out the breaking of the few paltry campaign finance laws we have, and checking to see if the aforesaid set rules about signatures and deadlines are being followed. You wouldn’t want any fraud, right? I thought you all hated fraud.
The DNC conducts lawfare by bringing suit after suit after suit attempting to slow down their opponent from getting on ballots and forcing them to pay $$$ in lawsuits.
We have seen their tactics. Hopefully, they will not work this time around.

Never.
Sorry. It is part of our Constitution. Good luck forcing an amendment.

Who are you to decide who *can* and *cannot* win on his own?
Who are you to dictate how others should vote?
I am not an idiot. Fighting back against a spoiler is fair game.
Fine. Fight against a candidate based on policy.
Fighting to prevent *anyone* from appearing on the ballot is one of the most unDemocratic things you can do.
But, what do you expect from the party who falsely screams "Threat to Democracy!" every chance they get?
I dont think for a minute he is running on policy. you are a fool. he is running to help trump win because trump can not get enough votes to win the election without nonsense like spoilers.
If Biden is such a great candidate, he should be able to win regardless of who is on the ballot, right?
More foolishness from you. These are close elections in the few states that decide presidential winners. Biden was chosen to be a winner of these states and he succeeded. He intends to do it again which includes fighting back against spoilers.
Once again, fighting on policy? Go for it.
If Biden, and his policies are so great, he should be able to win despite any third-party candidates.
Sounds like you think he may not be the strong candidate you promote him as.
