Isn’t that her ex? Besides, the whole point of that article is to show she’s not independently wealthy. She makes Congress pay, and she owns a house. That’s about it. Comfortable isn’t the same as wealthy, especially when we’re talking about politicians with national visibility.

I’m pretty sure they’re not savers or smart investors, so between that being a fairly new income level for him and them getting divorced, it doesn’t seem to translate to them being solid and secure. She makes approximately 175k annually, with 4 kids, a grandkid on the way, and being around wealthy people who dress nicely, eat at expensive restaurants, and drive nice cars, I bet she blows through her salary with nothing to show for it really quickly. I’m sure she isn’t ethical about campaign money or gifts, but assuming she isn’t a blatant thief, $175k doesn’t put her in the price bracket I bet she wants to live in.
