Haverford has a much more low key student life and would be the better environment for an introvert IMO.
Granted I grew up in the northeast but believe Haverford has a stronger academic reputation than Davidson.
Yes, you think that because you grew up in the Northeast. People in Atlanta or Raleigh/Durham or Charleston don't think that.
Dp, Everyone thinks that because it’s true.
It’s not that big of a difference, though. These schools are very, very similar in terms of academic reputation.
Davidson is a very good school, but a tier below Haverford, Swarthmore, Williams and Amherst.
According to the leading rankings, Davidson is a tier above Haverford. (14 vs 24 on US News LAC rankings; 7 vs 14 on Niche; 10 vs 88 on Wall St Journal). Haverford has lost some luster. Davidson has gained some.
That is correct.
Davidson definitely above Haverford: very different kids get from our prep: haverford is a lower academic group, more like a colby.
Doesn't Haverford have a higher SAT score average and a lower acceptance rate? And more freshmen who actually submitted an SAT and didn't go to TO? Also, their doesn't Haverford have a higher yield, a lower percentage of students accepted early decision, and a smaller percentage of the class admitted ED?

I would put Haverford slightly above Davidson, but both strong schools.

Anonymous wrote:Davidson is definitely above Haverford. It has been T15 LAC for years, ie on par with T30 universities. It is a highly selective school especially in RD. Neither of mine go there but both loved it and felt honored to be accepted.

July Experience has been put on hold since 2020 but hopefully will start up again next summer. The program gives high school students a taste of what the college experience is like at Davidson, and Davidson gets to evaluate potential applicants up close and personal for 3 weeks. In the past, the great majority of students who successfully completed JE and later applied early decision were admitted.
Unfortunately, Davidson has done away with July Experience for good. It was a great program and my daughter attended the last July Experience in 2019. JE changed her life b/c she chose to apply ED to Davidson and just graduated. She absolutely loved her 4 years there. She and most of her friends have all found employment all over the East Coast with one taking a job in LA. Wonderful school with a strong focus on the student experience! It's growing in popularity and acceptance rates will likely approach Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore levels in the very near future. The Class of 2028 supposedly had an acceptance rate around 12%. We'll miss being Davidson parents.
