OP here—I didn’t do anything wrong except trust this guy and get cheated on my my ex husband. The strain I tested positive for is low risk. Why should the guy leave me and you not blame him for it? I acted responsibly. And he very likely passed it to me!


If your ex cheated, you cannot say the new guy likely passed it on to you.

He knew about it (ex-gf had issues with it) and did not tell me, that's correct.

DP. There are various treatments for the actual warts, including immune modulators. You wouldn’t get this for asymptomatic virus though.


I’ve heard of prescription creams for genital warts but never heard of anything administered intra-urethrally.

I only recall the type but not the name. They inserted tube into urethra (pretty painful) and injected it there. US is so much behind other countries in some areas! The vaccine was also available upon request over 20 years ago

PP here. I ended up with HSIL and eventual cervical cancer. Waited until marriage. Slept with one guy. Have one child and lifelong health issues because of it. Yeah - I flipped out.

If you mean not disclosing a low-risk HPV strain even doctors say you don’t have to. The reason is because the likelihood of even symptoms can be low and if they do appear (warts) the body clears the virus naturally (or it becomes dormant, the science isn’t clear on that). Also, there is no test for men so why freak out over something that is most likely nothing?

Because she had a clean panel before they started sleeping together, and apparently so did he. So it sounds like he was sleeping around, got it from someone else, and gave to OP.


He did not have a “clean panel” for hpv, unless you are referring to someone looking at his or is and seeing no warts, but even that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have hpv. she tested negative before she slept with him. He was not tested because there is not commercially available test for men. They slept together. She then tested positive. Either she got it from him, or she had it before and it was lying dormant and reactivated (this is one theory for how hpv acts - we don’t know if that actually happens for sure).

I did have my suspicions that he was unfaithful to me. When I asked he insisted he was faithful but I felt like he was lying. I trusted him and I shouldn’t have been so trusting.

This feels awful. I don’t know what feels worse—that he could have given HPV to me or that I could have given it to him. (OP)
