Completely false. We're a Sidwell '22 family and would never categorize the year as a "disaster." We've seen many of the kids home on winter break and have yet to talk to one who is not very happy with his/ her outcome.

One more page with Harvard, etc:

That kid going to Harvard is going to be really disappointed when he realizes they don’t have a business major.

He is only disappointed by a measly sense of humor.

Seeing the stats gives me pause, b/c if my child goal was just to get into the lower tier top25 we could’ve just stayed local. Unfortunately my child has no hooks.

I’m seriously considering a private consultancy service to gain advantage in this hyper competitive arms race. It’s already 80k a year for tuition, not to mention time spent for child away us parents. At this point, what’s another 30-50k?

Sigh

Surprise!

It seems to me that a lot of these ED acceptances are for athletes.
I applaud athletes so am not bothered by this but I think many of these schools will have great outcomes once RD comes in.
Good luck to all

Uhh. I find these social media postings creepy. Why would these schools do this? It's one thing to list the schools where your students got accepted, but it's another to post poofed up pictures of young men and women for the entire universe to gawk over. I expect children to do this stuff. Not grown adults.

It almost feels like some creepy modeling agency.

By the way, my kid's MCPS high school could post a bunch of Ivy and T20 ED accepted posts too, but they don't.

+1. This is such a poor taste I don't know where to begin. DC's MCPS school had a fair share of Ivy and T10 too last year. They don't do this. In fact one of the teachers gently reminds kids to take his peers' emotions into account.

Are you always such a stick in the mud, PP? I love the posts and am happy for the kids. Sorry that is so hard for you to see.

My kid got into an Ivy early and they would NEVER think of posting. Very braggy.

Oh please. It's a life milestone. Congratulations to your kid. I'm happy for him/ her, even if you like to feign humility. We're not all so fragile, PP, that we can't handle someone else's good news.

You know quite well it isn't the parents who those posts impact. A lot of kids have a rough ride ahead and I guess you're the type who would just walk over them to announce your success. Sickening.

First of all, show me one 17 YO high school senior who is on Facebook. Of course it's about the mamas who can't handle the disappointment.

And if your kid truly cannot handle seeing notice online of classmates' success, in the face of his/ her own bad news, then you, mom, have done a poor job in raising your child.

I have a senior this year who was rejected by her ED and I love seeing news of other kid’s acceptances. It isn’t hard to be happy for friends’ good news, people,on dcum are always looking for reasons to be miserable.

These lists are good but essentially similar to the Baltimore private schools my kids attend. We don’t have celebrities, but do have athletic commits and legacies.

Congrats to all, from these and other schools! There are others (most seniors I'm aware of) who haven't posted where they are going yet since they only post when final decision is made. This I'm guessing is true across schools, so hopefully even more students are happy to have their college search over!

Landon seems to be having better results than previous years. Has the school upped its game in admissions? We had another kid graduate from a Big 3 a few years ago but our youngest will be applying for 9th grade next year and he likes Landon. We are not familiar with it personally but know it has had a few bad apples that have tainted its reputation.

2022 alumni parent here. 2022 class was not a disaster. Sure, a bunch of kids applied to Brown ED and didn't get in. Newsflash, no one is entitled to go to Brown.
