What's funny to me is DC police have never been "gloves off". They've ways been a pretty chill police force. One of the problems policing DC is all the jurisdictions, like different police for metro, federal parkland, or criminals crossing in and out of MD (with their own police force). Instead of stepping up cameras, intrajurisidictions and task forces, our current Council and awful awful politicians like Allen and Silverman have made an already very chill and somewhat ineffective police force totally toothless. Again, I'll be voting for the Republican. Doubt he will be gloves off..maybe he will just inject a bit more common sense into the conversation.

I have no idea "how" she asked, but nothing justifies what these kids did to her. And I get why people are scared to intervene. What can be done to help prevent some of the out-of-control behavior of youth?

What can be done? Avoid areas and places, like “bad neighborhoods” and public transit where violent people are more likely to be.

Your privilege is really showing. You realize that so many people in DC have no choice but to live where they live and take public transportation, right. So we should make it safer for them instead of throwing our hands up and letting these hoodlums run the show.

Exactly. Let’s empower the DC and Metro police to restore law and order. With gloves off, if necessary.

There is a Republican navy Vet running for an at large city council seat. Voting for him would likely be an actual step towards empowering the DC police
