There will be no abortion ban. Decision goes to individual states. Gun ban would come from the Feds and encompass all 50 states.

The Internet Archives' Wayback Machine shows that as recently as April 1, the "Gun safety" page included a section that said: "And while it might not be the easy or politically safe thing to say, I strongly believe that we need to reduce the number of AR-15’s and AK-47’s on our streets."
Sometime since April 1 (the most recent date archived), the campaign edited the section to say: "And while it might not be the easy or politically safe thing to say, I don't believe any civilian should own an AR-15 or AK-47."
O'Rourke had previously dialed back his aggressiveness on gun control after falling behind incumbent Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in the polls.
Maybe the Buffalo shooting. Or any of the other million shootings with AR-15s made him change his mind.
He’d have my vote for sure.
Or, maybe he doesn't really stand for anything. He simply changes his position based on which way the wind is blowing.
That's not always a bad thing, like in this case.
Yes. The majority of Americans - even Republicans - want to ban assault weapons.

First of all, define "assault weapon." Even the nominee as ATF head has refused to do that. Why?
Secondly, that article is 3 years old. Long before the summer of 2020 where we saw violence across the nation and gun ownership shot up substantially.
There are over 20 million AR-15 type weapons legally in circulation. Do you believe these should be confiscated?

Where you been, son? Usually you gun and grammar nuts are first in, so you’re late to the party but better late than never.
Do I believe all 20 million AR-15 GUNS (“ItS a SiDe ArM oR a WeApOn”) should be confiscated? In a world where Republicans aren’t blood thirsty monsters? Yes, obviously. What the fork do you need that for? I’ll say it again till the smooth brains understand: sane people, Democrats, are living under the tyranny of Republicans. You fascists are freaky minority but we have had to live under your sick rules for about 40 years. Guns wouldn’t have helped.
Guns aren’t liberty.
I also find this such a beautiful representation of mental gymnastics, because I’ve seen all sorts of cosplaying Rambos on this site saying they need guns and AR-15s and so on to protect themselves from the government— and that ordinary people need weapons to “limit the state.”
But they also support absurdly high police budgets, as well as all sort of unchecked police power. Are police not the state? WTF?

They are not ethical people. Of course they won’t step down.
+1
And many people in Texas, including the county where this massacre happened, voted these people into office.
Again and again and again. The AG is under multiple indictments and was just re-elected in the primary.
