Region D which is Concorde and Liberty, has just the top 4 teams in each district make regionals. Region C, Patriot and Gunston districts, do an all-in format where every team makes regionals. The only reason region D did an all-in format for regionals last year was because of the shortened season due to Covid and missing the previous season.
Interesting - didn't realize regions could (and actually) do their tournament formats differently. Good to know - thanks for the info!
Think I actually like having the district tourney mean something (versus all-in again for regionals). But I suppose also good that those players can continue their season bit longer.
Any case, looks like Region D tourney will be Madison/Westfields/Oakton/Centreville and then Langley/Yorktown/McLean/W&L(!). Should be great.

W-L parent here. Which one of these is not like the others...

They started getting sloppy or tired and WP started winning faceoffs and scored a bunch of goals in two quick bursts to tie 13-13. Last minute of regulation was crazy. WP scored with 39 seconds left to go up 1, LB won the face and a pole scored with 23 seconds left to send it to OT. First OT was uneventful. WP sealed it early in the 2nd OT. Pretty crazy LB beat WP 20-4 earlier in the season. Love the playoffs.

Wow. Kudos to WestPo. I also heard Maryland commit scored 13 of the goals? And he's a D, not an attack.
Congrats to West Po - and congrats to rankings editor who noted LB would have to avoid looking ahead to district finals. Would love to hear if stat above is true - wild if their D-pole scored that many (esp. with no adjustment from LB) but also testament to kid just deciding to take over a game...
