Have you actually taken an electric car on a long drive or are you just repeating something you heard once?
I've got an electric car and take it to Vermont and South Carolina several times a year, it's really not hard in the slightest. Yes, the trip takes a little longer overall, but Vermont only takes a single 40 minute charging stop and considering you'd need to stop for gas and food in an ICE car anyway you're really not adding any time at all since you can eat while you charge. SC is definitely a little less convenient, it takes 3 charging stops that are about 30 minutes long, but again when considering gas and food breaks it really adds less than an hour to the drive.
