Don't pin your hopes on him.

What does that mean when we have several key and highly respected witnesses (Bill Taylor, Fiona Hill, Lt. Col Vindeman) all testifying to the same set of facts? I think we got our first hint today with several Republican lawmakers (including Kevin McCarthy) saying that what the President did is not impeachable. So it looks like the new strategy is “Get over it”
So Republicans do not think it is an abuse of power for a President to pressurize a foreign country to produce dirt on a political opponent
They are also fine with a President using military aid funds approved and appropriated by Congress as a tool to shake down an ally
They are also fine with a President imperiling the National security of a key strategic ally that forms a key bulwark against Russian expansion in Europe and the Baltic
For people who are inclined to give him a pass this one time, I will remind you that the infamous phone call to Ukraine occurred the day after Mueller’s lackluster testimony. The President obviously learned from that experience that he would not be held accountable. So what could happen if he gets a pass a second time because Republicans do not think what happened was an abuse of power?

It looks like these are depositions, not hearings, consistent with what’s been done so far. They want all the principals on the record so no one is aligning their stories with each other. Public hearings later. Depositions are never public.

Do people really not understand how government works at the civil service level? Particularly people who live in the DC area?
