Dads walking around with an intense posture, wearing visors and pastel shorts. Yelling worthless advice to players on the field when they can't even be heard. Whining about (supposed) player and ref mistakes on the field.
My kids love lax and I will of course continue to support them, but this is a parental world that is so foreign to me and embarrassing. So much of what's been posted on this thread now makes sense.
Maybe it's not unique to lax, but this intense emotional over involvement can't be good for anyone.
Wow very different from the fall ball high school game I attended today. Most parents were sitting except a few taking some pictures, and chatting after not seeing each other since last spring. There was brief clapping when a goal was scored.
Having been to many lax games, I call BS on this post. I've never been to any lax game that could be described that way! That's not meant as an insult by the way-just reality.
Fess up, what teams did you watch and we'll see if others agree with your description.

Who would anyone spend thousands of dollars on a club if your son can play in the fall ball league with his high school teammates? The clubs play in the same league. My son's high school coach wants players to play together in the league to get practice playing together in preparation for the spring season, which makes sense. Paying $3K for a club to play against your high school JV and varsity teammates seems nonsensical to me.

I laugh at some of these parents who think playing year round lacrosse will make their son a better lacrosse player. Some of these parents drop thousands on clinics and private lessons.

You are right. A hyper focus on one sport is never a good idea. May be good for the club selling you the add-ons like private lessons, shooting clinics, training and extras but not good for the player.
