Not really. They kinda cranked out college commits over the years. In 2023s, for example, I'm pretty sure nearly all of the players are D1 or D3. The problem emerged when the Crabs organization entertained the idea of using Cavs as a feeder club. That brought in a conflicting culture (to put it nicely) and it has gone downhill fast. Previously, VLC started with 8th graders and had only one team per age group, which was a good model. Now it's all over the place.

Old VLC never had dad coaches
Dad coach or not “the old VLC” was very hit and miss in the coaching department depending on age group. In the end they had a model that worked, times and expectations changed and there is more competition now. They didn’t change with the times. They had a slogan of “trust the process”! Well the process of consumer market dynamics played out and they got left in the past like many other failed companies that don’t change with the times.
