IMO, providing it to public schools is a baby step towards a nanny government where people expect all their basic needs to be handed to them without any effort on their part.
This is why the Harris/Walz ticket scares me. It’s a small baby step towards bigger and bigger bloated government.
What is wrong with you? THIS is an issue for you? Removing sexist barriers the affect poor girls and young women? Because you’re afraid of . . . What exactly? Shame on you.

What the hell is wrong with you? There are poor girls in HS whose family cannot consistently afford period products. Or has abusive or addicted parents who do not provide them with the basics of life.
They end up missing school BECAUSE of their period - it's actually one of the main causes of truancy for teen girls. Giving them cheap pads so they remain in class absolutely benefits society in the long-run. It's not the teen girl's fault she has poor parents, or parents who make terrible financial decisions.

Also, I am in Maryland which is probably a slam dunk for the Dems but if there is a way for me to help other states from afar, that would be great. In addition to donating $ of course.

Aren't there more pressing issues to deal with?
He advocated for period products in every bathroom because of transgenderism. THAT'S what repubs are upset about. Just call it what it is, cowards.
I grew up in the 80's and 90's. Funny how this was never a topic one would even consider talking about which shows you have crazy things have become.
The 80s was 40+ years ago. This is like being shocked that values became more progressive in the 1980s compared to the 1940s.
Beyond your crazy time perception, can you explain how having menstrual products available in mens rooms hurts anyone? It can only help right? Can you explain the harm being done?
First is cost. How many people using the boy's bathroom will even need access to these products? Why not have them available at the nurse's office in case someone needs it? The second issue is boys will be boys and will most likely mess with the products. I read about one middle school where they ripped the dispenser off the wall in less than an hour of being placed in the boy's bathroom.
These concerns seem so minor compared to the reactions from the right-wing. Are you really this pissed off that boys might act like idiots in the bathrooms? If that’s what you’re worried about, why not address behavior issues in boys instead of blowing up a thread on a VP pick?
No but you seem weirdly pissed off. I was simply responding to the previous poster about the issue having these products in a boy's bathroom. Not exactly blowing up a thread.
I’m not angry - I’m genuinely puzzled about why this matters so much. And click back through this thread, it’s been stick on this issue for pages now.
It’s a point of obsession for weird, sad people, that’s why.
But I think this about Walz (and he’s my governor for now). He’s an inherently decent person and witty and intelligent, to boot. He’s got that dad/grandpa energy that so many people have had absent in their lives as their actual dads and grandfathers went down angry right wing rabbit holes.

It sounds like you’re extrapolating from “let’s remove barriers to education for kids” to “everyone will now expect to have basic needs handed to them without effort.” What sort of effort are you wanting kids to make? Should kids be punished for being unlucky enough to have poor parents?
This shows the previous posters complete lack of empathy. She probably thinks 13 year olds girls should be washing dishes part time at the local diner to buy pads.

Someone just sent a fund raising message saying that as Gun Czar, Kamala Harris had controlled gun violence in the United States. I am involved with the Brady Initiative and did a quick search showing that homicides were around 15,000 in 2019 and around 21,000 in 2021. Getting basic stuff wrong is not helpful.
