Totally the wrong trail to be on in summer. Not at all a trail for beginners. Catastrophic for an unleashed dog (they'd head straight down one of those steeps to the river).

agree - I’ve been trying to say that from the beginning - inland california hikes are rugged and hot.

So much misinformation here. This is the easy trail. They were on the Lundy Savage trail. There is video of someone who flew a drone thru the canyon and you can see the switch backs on the trail. No shade. Rocks and scrabble.

Agree it doesn't look bad. And I doubt with a baby in a carrier that they would be doing portions that required scrambling over rocks and boulders requiring you to bend over at the waist.

I could see how he would take a seat resting against the rock wall. Was this video taken b4 the fire? It doesn’t look extreme at all. The weather was extreme, however. The toxic river looks inviting on a hot day I’m sure

Not to be grim but assuming this was entirely the heat, did they all likely die on Sunday? Or if they were found on Monday would one or more have likely survived?
It so sad how nobody called the police Sunday night when they didn't make it home. Or even first thing Monday morning (nanny or his work when he didn't show). But I'm not sure if that would have made a difference?
