The True tryouts were packed and their teams have great coaches (for their level) and excellent field space. It’s too bad VLC failed to execute- this should have been thier moment
Anonymous wrote:True is not going anywhere in the DC/VA area. Yes, VLC has had some major issues recently, but they have an in for the better tournaments compared to other teams in Northern Va. If your kid can make the elite team you will have better opportunities. They will probably also attract most of the more experienced players in NOVA for that reason. The new league director is a great guy. He’s been in the lacrosse community forever. Some people may not love him, but he’s a great coach, and does have what it takes to run the program. I honestly feel like he will turn the club back to the direction it once was. Acquiring the Cavs players did water down VLC, and unfortunately affected some talented VLC players because of it. However, they have had time to work out the kinks, and I feel are doing the steps necessary to rebound the program. They have a strong coaching staff now, and are recruiting to establish competitive teams again. The 27’ coach that was a rec coach caused the entire 27 team to quit, is now coaching the 30’s. That is probably the only dumb move I’ve seen with the new program direction.
If you want your kid to be recruited at high level lacrosse program for college, they must be on the elite team. If they are at the elite level and not playing elite division, then move on to another club. If you’re okay with mediocre tournaments, and average players the lower level VLC teams are great for just that. For the record I’ve been a VLC parent who’s experienced the good, bad and ugly with VLC. If anyone has a reason to not recommend this club it would be me. However, aside from the personal misfortune we experienced, I know as a long standing lacrosse parent VLC is the best you’re going to get in the NOVA area for recruiting and competitive lacrosse. If you’re willing to drive to Maryland that’s another conversation.

To be fair, the root of most issues does point back to parents, especially NOVA parents...
Yeah that's what Dico wants you to think when he comes in here anonymously and throws shade on parents and players in order to distract from how poorly he ran the club
Coming from VLC... Dico is not the one running VLC anymore, he is just a coach.

Blame can go both ways. But when a kid needs better coaching they move to another team to find it.
