Yeah, I'm not one of the people who complains about the Bullis transfers, but as a factual matter two transferred this off-season (from STAB and SSSAS) and the other transferred last off-season from MSJ in Baltimore.

I almost feel sorry for Mr. Madlax. He's made money hand over first in part because he cornered the market on talent. His was the only game in town. That's changed. Take Next Level. Just look at the rosters for Next Level just published. A decade ago most of those players would have only one real choice - Madlax. No more.

Oh, if anyone had any doubt about why this "sports" thread is so popular (and is a natural intersect with) the private school community, just look at those rosters. Chockfull of the ritzy private schools.

To clear it up, one came for this school year as a junior, one came last year as a sophomore, and the other started in middle school (7th grade?). I know that won't stop the whining, but thought I'd clarify.


It evens says in the listing that one transferred for his senior year.

To be able to play at one of the top programs, possibly the number one program, in the country?

To be surrounded by the best, to get ready for the next level, with an eye towards getting serious PT.

If I was an outstanding lacrosse player I'd look at Bullis. It seems that the Bullis program has been on a steep rise the past few years. But I wonder, why do these players want to transfer? Were they unhappy at their prior school? Is the Bullis coaching staff that good? Is it the new academic building on campus? Is it about financial aid? Does the team need the players? College connections? (Recent grads have gone on to play at top lacrosse and academic school) What is it that makes these players transfer to Bullis? What is IT that Bullis is selling, that kids and parents are buying?

So looks like the IAC is going to break down into three tiers next year:

Landon and Bullis up top.

GP and SSSAS good, but not quite as good as Landon and Bullis

And STA and Episcopal at the bottom, but still with overall fairly solid teams.



I think GP will be in a second category by itself. STA (if they can reload at goalie and defense) and Episcopal (if they find a suitable FOGO) can compete with SSSAS and losing their stud pole to Bullis hurts.

Yeah, but again 2 of the 3 were just brought over to Buillis this year. That looks bad. Other IAC schools rarely take junior and senior tranfers but Bullis does... all the time. And there are lots of allegations of poaching and worse. Its ugly and embarrassing. I know its hard to admit if you have a kid at Bullis but it really, really taints your school and your lacrosse program.
