Wow. Even prominent Democrats DON’T want Socialism.
Why would Democrats endorse someone who isn't a Democrat? He's a Democratic Socialist. And as a mayor, even of NYC, he's not really in a position to be a standard-bearer or leader among Democrats, at least not yet. Maybe if instead he were running for a House seat they'd be more likely to need to endorse.
Young people aren’t Democrats. They hate Democrats for being turncoats to Bernie-the actual choice of young people in 2016 and 2020. They didn’t have a choice in 2024. No primary. Yet Donald was the threat to democracy. He had a primary. The RNC didn’t like him but they stood by the majority rule/people’s choice. The DNC chose not to do that in 2016 and 2020.
The same Democrats like Jake Tapper and Karrine Jean Pierre writing books now about the Biden office disarray were saying he was “sharp as a tack” as president

Mandani wants to revolutionize groceries with socialism because that worked so well in the USSR. The GOP knows Mamdani's policies will be an unmitigated disaster, but the GOP is too cowed to actually fix the problem.
Mamdani wants socialized housing. How about stopping the invasion of America?
Huh? He wants more housing for people. NYC has a severe housing shortage. Every candidate suggests that in some form.
The housing shortage is because foreign rich billionaires are buying empty apartments in the city that aren’t even rentals. They just keep the homes for summer or business trips
Huh?
The rich billionaires are buying the 30-100 million apartments on billionaires row.
They are not buying up the 900k basement apartments in 150 year old brownstones that people of middle class income can afford.
Also, his plans call for money to come from the rich residents in NYC who he can tax. Without their money, he has no funds for his programs. Many of the billionaires will simple leave NYC like many have already, and the tax base will be decimated. His programs will fail miserably without the money to pay for them.
No the billionaires, how few there are, are not leaving NYC to go to tax friendly Duluth. It’s like the people who say they are leaving the US when Obama became president or Trump.

Great, you can be so smug if it happens.
It won’t, but maybe you’ll STFU in the meantime :)
Wow,
You are so tolerant of any point of view not similar to yours? Maybe your parents should have raised you better?
Yeah, normal people are not looking at 50 million dollar apartments in Billionaire’s Row.
So I don’t really think these foreign rich investors are taking away the typical apartment in NYC, let alone the ones in the Bronx or Brooklyn.
Those $50M condos drive up the prices of all the modest 1BR apartments in the surrounding blocks.
Case in point: Carnegie House on West 57th

You'd need to be making around $220k to reasonably afford a $900k home. That's top 5%, not so much "middle class" - top end of middle class. I think a lot of DCUM posters are out of touch with what the average American actually brings home. Median US HHI is $75k. Middle class nationally is $50k to $150k. Multimillion dollar homes are not even remotely the norm for the average American.
