Elon wants to pick a public fight with the media. It’s Trumpism 101 to attack to distract from your own issues.

That’s fine. The only reason I ever used twitter was to read media figures. I suspect I’m not alone. Ban them and there’s no reason to use it.

+1. I've developed a few mutuals (my longest running mutual died earlier this year) but I'm there for the commentary from various media figures and a few others here and there.

+2 About 90% of who I follow are reporters.

Pick a fight with the media and then censor them like a dictator would. Truly Hitleresque. Truly Stalinesque. Take your pick. This is now objectively even worse than Twitter was before Musk took over.

"Free speech" was a lie from the start and every last one of you who claimed Musk was a "free speech champion" who would "fix Twitter" now owes us an admission you were wrong and an apology.

What an idiot he is. Does he think the media won’t investigate him and write about him if he suspends them from Twitter? The media will hit back with receipts.

Done. https://www.washingtonpost.com/media/2022/12/15/twitter-journalists-suspended-musk/

Yes, but they’ll have less of a reach without Twitter and before something else really takes its place.

He not only suspended the @ElonJet account, but also the personal account of the guy who was running it.

Yeah this was Ryan Mac.

Way back in this thread I said this was one of Elon’s goals for buying Twitter. He hates the media reporting information about him and his companies.

ElonJet was run by Jack Sweeney, not Ryan Mac.

I know, Ryan Mac tweeted the screenshot that said Jack Sweeney had been suspended, but the tweet I linked was no longer visible since Mac had been suspended. Sorry for the confusion.

They never believed it even as they said it. They just didn’t like that Democrats could organize and share their viewpoints, nor did they appreciate the fact that right wingers kept getting suspended for disinformation and promoting violence.
