All homes in new developments use cluster boxes. It’s a USPS rule - the developer and homeowners have no ability to change it.


Is this a new rule for the entire US or specific areas? I haven’t noticed these until recently for new SFH communities.

Yes, they’re part of MoCo’s required MPDU (Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit) program and are purchased through the county. Toll builds them. They’re small, but affordable and a fantastic way for people who couldn’t normally afford a home in this area to live in a beautiful, safe neighborhood.

As a Windmill resident, I can say that the homes blend in well within the community. The residents are just like everyone else - great neighbors!

Just noticed there are a bunch of townhomes that sold for around 200k each in mt prospect. Does anyone know what is up with that? Are they made by toll brothers? Never saw them on the website. Just curious

It's been North Potomac for 20 years now. And there are million-dollar homes.

I think that’s fair. A few more feet between the houses would have been appreciated (especially on Ankonian).

Still, I think it will look a lot better as the trees start to grow. All new home communities look strange in the beginning. I previously lived in Kentlands/Lakelands when it was first developed. The street trees are huge now, but back in the day it looked very different.

My address on my mail and my driver’s license says North Potomac.

I get my mail and all government documents just fine.

North Potomac is a real area whether you want to accept it or not.
