"value playing time, friendship and physical fitness" Stop it with such common sense ... there's no place for that in this board! HA!

Look the real problem is that there isn’t enough talent (from the player side or coaching side) to have three elite teams in the DMV at every age level. Even amoung next level, madlax and blc/dce there is always at least one club that is struggling. The second tier clubs TC, VLC, True etc are always going to have difficulty fielding teams as parents bounce from club to club trying to find that perfect spot for their son. VLC has added an additional element of inconsistency with the merger. The perfect solution (which admittedly is impossible to implement) would be for parents to realize that their son is unlikely to be one of the few kids to make it and to value playing time, friendship and physical fitness over elite opportunities.

But, if they feel they won’t be able to compete at the best tourneys with who shows up at tryouts, they just won’t have a team.
Some folks look at it as a problem, but others could say it allows them to better focus the coaches they do have, where it make sense.

What? This must be VLC management responding. Vlc reputation is trashed. It couldn’t field a team, and wanted it before the merger. Now post merger, it struggled to keep many teams together. Vlc just can’t get the talent it wants because so many have been burned directly by vlc or have heard enough about families that were a part of it pre and/or post merger that they are hesitant to involve themselves with vlc. This is indeed a problem for vlc, thoughts otherwise are naive.

My kid is on one of the VLC HS age teams and he has had great experiences. He has been with the program for many years. His team goes to the best tournaments and plays the top teams in the country. Not sure your specific problems but you should probably just move on to another club since this is causing you so much stress in your life.

Was your kid on CAVS or VLC before the merger?

I know the current management and that is why we left...

This reply is very much from someone on VLC.

I know they are looking to setup a 2027 team, but do not know anything on the outcome. This is after not having one from last year.

The 2028 age group will not have a team this year.

The 2029 team has gone from 2 teams to 1.

I heard that they advertised a big name PLL player as coach of the 2027's, and their star coach Dico was taking over the 2028's. There is enough unrest at other programs in those two classes that they should have been able to round up enough players for one solid team. what happened?

Parents are frustrated at the management at VLC and that is why the teams are moving to others. The VLC/CAVS merger brought in different management and then went downhill... The word has been out on this management and that is why not many players have been at these tryouts. I also thought $75 was pretty expensive on a team that is desperate for players...

For teams not forming due to lack of players, is it because there are less kids interested in lacrosse across the board? Are other teams as equally impacted?

VLC has been having problems since the merger. Cavs was a terrible organization with great kids and families. The kids and the families have moved on leaving VLC with the terrible organization. Do these mergers ever work?

Well it sounds like VLC is having trouble keeping teams together this year… Wondering if the Crabs organization is going to do anything to fix it?

DCE starts in 8th grade, so won't have a 2029 team until next year.
