Why ANYONE would choose FL over Portugal is a mystery. But especially now. If I were foreign, and esp. brown skinned foreign, there is zero chance I'd step foot in the US. As much as I hate to see how far my country has fallen, I hope the World Cup and Olympics (or individual teams) rethink coming here. It's now a "sh--hole country."
Why do Americans often choose FL over Portugal? Because it’s easier. It’s often cheaper.
If you live in Toronto or Montreal getting to FL is quick and easy. There’s a reason that millions of Canadians have done it for decades.
They are coming for weather, not culture. There are a million places they can go for weathers. Florida can rot.
You realize that decreasing revenue in a major sector of our 3rd most populous state is not a good thing for the US.

After Europe and Canada are forced to pay for their defense and pay reciprocal tariffs they won't have jobs or money to jet set in any numbers. Net gain for USA by an exponential amount.

In the real world, the other countries and trading zones are creating tariff free or tariff-lite deals that exclude the US. At the end of the day, the US economy is being decimated and the rest of the world is moving on. There is no replacing trade deals for example selling US beef abroad or US cash crops abroad when Brazil and Argentina can fill the void.

DP. If DeSantis, the governor of Florida doesn’t care, why should we. DeSantis is diligently trying to deport one to two thirds of the state’s tourism workforce anyway.

I was just in Canada. They are seeing lots of American tourists.
When politics came up, they were amazingly gracious.
Actions have consequences. Canadians have been the biggest supporters of the US, content to be the “little guy” except in hockey, and represent the largest number of travellers to the US. The tariffs were annoying, and now it doesn’t feel safe to enter.

It’s just as easy to get to many countries in the Caribbean as well
You would be surprised the number of Canadians who drive. And it is tough to drive to Portugal and the Carribean.
