St Pats.

No, not a single St. Pats boy was admitted into fourth at STA in the rising C Form grade or in the rising A form grade.

No St. Pats boys are in the class for C form for next year and there were none in last year's C form class.

Incorrect. At least one St Pats boy is in C form this year. H.T.

Yes but none in the current C Form and none in the current A form.

I bet something happened with a family from there that has come in the last few years. Maybe they weren't happy with the family.

Is C form 4th grade? Has it occurred to anybody that nobody from St. Pats actually wants to leave and go to 4th grade at St. Albans? From what I have seen, less interest is the reason they are not there, not rejections.

It's more about a particular social circle. While most parents at these schools are nice, the handful of mean and gossipy moms that I hear repeated complaints about all belong to the same country club. It may be a coincidence (or not) but although MOST parents at the club are nice, I do find it odd that the handful of troublesome moms have that one thing in common. So my point is that I think it is less about what school they come from and more about being in (or wanting to be in) a particular social circle.

Things are changing and there are so many qualified applicants in DC, MD, and VA. More difficult to get into. Also, the Beauvoir boys test very well and are very good candidates so they get many spots, as they should, as the three schools are part of one family and have a special connection.

Hmmm. This is probably not somebody from STA admissions posting. So take such pronouncements with bushel (not just a grain) of salt.

Of course not. But have you seen or know anything about the incoming classes? If you did, you'd know about such proficiency. There is a new chapter in STA admissions. Thank God for C@@@@@@@o!

It is a ridiculous assertion that any kid on a club team gets a huge admissions bump. In many sports, playing at the club level is more a proxy for affluence than high level talent. It is also ridiculous to act as if you know what the wait is given to athletics in the admissions process relative to other factors.

If you had made the point that St. Albans is interested in applications from great athletes who can succeed in the classroom? Sure, no argument there. But your post vastly overreached and purported a level of inside knowledge that you clearly do not possess.

Ha ha is this post for real? What do you mean by powerful? Are they going to try to use their money and clout to affect admissions? That won't go over very well and STA does not allow that which is why it is such a great school. Btw most of the book awards and prized go to Beauvoir kids and the top stidents all the way up are mostly the Beauvoir kids. Beauvoir kids are generally the most inclusive and tbe families are generally inclusive - except some of the county club crowd that all hang together but you will find that anywhere.

Have there been sta teachers, admins, board members etc that did not send their kids to BVR? If those folks bypass BVR, might it say something?

Silly question. Of course some board members' children came from other schools - even some from public and some came in the upper grades so obviously they would have gone to other schools. With the exception of a few a few years ago - most Sta faculty have kids that attend Beauvoir. Not sure what your issue with Beauvoir is or what makes you so angry at the school. If it is because your child did not get admitted to Sta over a beauvoir student please don't be bitter. I say this with all sincerity. The numbers have been very tight with siblings, alumni children, etc... I would apply again for the upper grades. Best of
luck.

I think there have been lots of different posters on this thread so not sure who is saying what but wow, what pretense in the last post. Assuming sour grapes and inability to obtain a slot in a class is misplaced absent facts.

But to the point raised, and to make it clear: I do not have an issue with BVR, my son was admitted a few years back and has loved it, BVR and non BVR kids in all, notwithstanding the fact he came in from a different track. That said, I have heard sta folks of the types mentioned above say other than positive things about BVR. Don't know if they were accurate, don't know why they were mentioned to me in light of the fact that The BVR question is years back in my rear view mirror, and don't really care. But if the question is whether there are STA people who have raised issues, it is my experience there have been.

Well the college acceptances for the Beauvoir boys that went on to STA has been pretty impressive so they must be doing something right. Many great students from all the schools.

really, it was a few years of BVR instead of nearly a decade of STA that accounts for that...really?
