Does anyone know if yesterday's principal meetings were recorded and posted anywhere?

That confused me, as well. But, I think I was more focused on the fact that her younger child could not ride in the car to Oakton with her older child.
Wonder how her child gets to Carson?

I think that was in reference to the possibility that younger siblings may have to attend Western if their home ends up in boundary, even if they have an older sibling who opts out. Hence why these Crossfield moms are fighting it, several have a middle school and a late elementary schooler right now.

I think there are valid arguments to avoid Western, but traffic/crossing big roads is most certainly not one of them considering what you have to do to get from the Crossfield area to Oakton. If your teen isn't on 66 they are on back roads which might actually be worse.

Right but both Crossfield parents who spoke at the school board meeting mentioned traffic, and it's seriously a joke. I have a middle schooler at Carson. It takes me literally LESS time to get to Carson than it takes me to get to Crossfield. I don't understand how these people think anyone can take them seriously if they are complaining about traffic on the way to Carson/Western. Even the people in Folkstone or the horse neighborhood have just one more light than the rest of us, and West Ox/Lawyers is NOT a busy road.

Guess what, takes me 3 min to Crossfield but 15 to Carson without traffic. Seems like many people don't get how WIDE Crossfield's border is. If you're on the East side of west ox its a different experience than west side.

Really hate the backup on West Ox and Mclaren if you don't time the lights right. That Westox/7100 backup can sometimes take 3 light changes, though more often or not its 2.

You are an outlier. But, one thing for sure, you cannot get to Oakton within 15 minutes--and, at rush hour, I seriously doubt you can get there within 30 minutes--even from your edge of Crossfield boundary.
Sounds like you might be better off at South Lakes.

The only people I can back, by the way, are the FMW people who want to stay at South Lakes. OF course they should stay there.

Oh hey crazy Navy AAP mom! You're so easy to recognize. I bet you're one of the parents who makes kiss and ride a nightmare because you can't seem to grasp basic rules, or don't think they apply to you for some reason.

I think this settles it then - Fox Mill will be in Boundary, Crossfield will remain at Oakton.

Honestly I am fine with it.

I'm not, one of the Crossfield families who wants my kids to go to Western. It is a pain in the butt to go to Oakton.

50 to 66 to 123 make a right turn and there u are!

Yes. In a car-pretty much 20-30 minutes with no traffic. On a school bus? Don't you just love the idea of your kid driving on I 66?

Accidents can happen with a driver going to any high school. Years ago, there was a horrible accident on 50 when kids were returning from Oakton. It could have happened to any high schooler anywhere, but it was tragic.

This honestly annoys me about them. Like good for you that you time to traipse back and forth to Oakton a bunch of times per week in the late afternoon -- I guess it's a big part of your identity to be an "Oakton sports mom!" and wouldn't know what to do with yourself if you weren't doing all those runs back and forth in your SUV. But people have jobs or just better things to do, and that time spent driving adds up over the course of a week/month/year.

Right but how is that less dangerous than Franklin Farm Rd to Centreville Rd to McLearen?

That's truly what I don't understand. Their middle schoolers go to Carson and nobody has ever complained about crossing Fairfax County Parkway to get to Carson (and they'd have to cross the same busy road to get their kids to Franklin regardless). Not to mention the fact that their kids regularly cross FFX County Parkway on foot and bicycle to get to Starbucks/Giant/Baskin Robbins and they are totally okay with that. These people are a joke. I laughed out loud at that lady's statements. Does she know how dumb she sounded???
