Like evil genius. He didn't do it while Trump was president because Trump told him if you attack Ukraine, I will bomb Moscow and your pretty turrets will be bye bye.

Sorry. You are so confused. That was Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Dem here and while I agree that there are frustrations on the basis of how both Democrats and Republicans have acted to date - not the least of which has been the cosiness of the GOP with Putin - we need to come together ASAP to solve this. I am an American and a human on planet earth and do not want a nuclear crises or for Ukrainians to suffer at the hands of a madman. Just the prospect of Putin using thermaberic bombs on innocent people is distressing being measure.

Exposing Trump will ultimately lead to *less* division in the US. Not going play that card.

Instead, Serbia was under sanctions? Or when the U.S. invaded Iraq? Or Afghanistan?
Bcs the U.S. holed the power in the world, politically, economically and militarily.
But, when Russia does it, oh, no? They are bad!
Russia is a shithole of a country and a bad actor on the global stage. It’s got a monstrous inferiority complex and always resorts to stirring up diplomatic BS just to attract attention and remind the world it exists.
Ok, and the U.S. is a great nation with millions of people living in poverty and in tents? And the U.S. is not full of BS?
US is ripe for criticism, for sure, but that doesn't mean Russia's murdering of innocent civilians isn't bad.
The U.S. kills innocent civilians all the time. Are you not aware of that?
I just said they're ripe for criticism, so yes, I'm clearly aware of that. But the US doesn't target innocent civilians. Innocent Ukrainian civlians are being targeted by Russia. You're trying to excuse it by saying the U.S. does the same thing, when it does not. Ylu are telling a reprehensible lie.
The truth is that admitting to what I am saying is not just embarrassing to you, it is also painful. You do not want to see the truth of your country BCS your identity and pride are directly tied to how you perceive your country. To admit that the U.S. is just as brutal and kills just as many if not more civilians, over the course of the years and in present, would tear down the very fabric of who you believe you are. It would tear you down.
You will not get any of what I wrote, you do not have the capacity to understand it, nor the education to get it. But, some pp here will get it and they know I am telling the truth. You find ways to omit from your consciousness some truths that are too painful to acknowledge. People like you are the very product of the nation's indoctrination and necessary to create the fighting force that will willingly die, for some nebulous higher purpose, such as "my country is good and the country they want me to fight is bad."
What country are you from?
Why does it matter. The statement's idiocy shines through on their own. Let's not associate this one person's extreme views with an entire nation.
Every "I am so smart person" thinks he/she is smart as can be. You know everything there is to know, I am an idiot saying idiocies. You have no idea how to even contemplate a differing opinion. A true sign of every stupid person is that he/she knows she is smart and knows everything. Hence your "brilliant" tearing down of my post, no intellectual knowledge backed debate from you, nope, I am stupid and a troll bcs you are smart and know everything.
Nothing wrong with different vantage points; even if you disagree with them. American ignorance and/or bias can be strong and lead to very shallow understandings of otherwise complex situations. Not saying that anyone would arrive at a different opinion, but a lot of analysis in this thread is shallow, with clear inflections of corporate media propaganda.
OK, I’ll explain it to you. Not completely, but as simply as I can so you can understand. Serbia was conducting the most horrible European genocide since the Holocaust. That’s why the world wasn’t condemning us.

This isn't just about Serbia, genius. It's about how other people come to arrive at their beliefs about the U.S. and other geopolitical events. You're probably too arrogant to think that matters though.

Russia is NOT going to nuke Ukraine!!
It's US he will nuke!!
But we have nukes too, so we'll nuke Russia, and that will be the end of the world.
Is he suicidal enough to do this and take his entire country with him?
Well, that’s alarming. Is his goal to drag the US into this conflict? The whole of NATO would come down hard on Russia. Why would he do that?
Yes. What I think is not adequately conveyed by the news is that this war is not only about Ukraine. It’s about the US too. He hates the US and our way of life and government and wants to take us down too….and has been actively trying to do that for more than a decade. The Ukrainians are fighting for the whole free world. Why do you think Germany just 180’d it’s foreign policy? It finally woke up to the fact that Putin is coming for the whole democratic West.

This is what the West should be worried about. A madman with his finger on the nuclear button.
Is Putin angry enough to kill millions of people? He's a murderer. There are rumors that he's ill with Parkinsons. He's 70.
This is the big gamble. Does he love Russia enough to protect it from assured destruction if he starts a nuclear war, which will destroy much of the world?
Or is a he just a bully waving his weapons around?
He's increasingly isolated, and his own people are angry with him.
I think he's bluffing, but of course I thought he was bluffing (again) about invading Ukraine.
All I have to say is that I’m relieved we have a sane human on our side with the nuclear codes.
Imagine if we still have the mentally-ill dotard at the helm? We’d already be dead.
Biden also listened to and trusted our intelligence agencies. He got out in front of the invasion and called out Russia's false flag operations openly and publicly. Weren't Republicans screaming that this was unwarranted hysteria just a few weeks ago? I guess they don't like the narrative where America and its allies win (if it means that it looks good for Biden and the Democrats).
The ONLY thing Biden has done right is to declassify the intelligence regarding the invasion. Republicans were not screaming that it was unwarranted hysteria. What they WERE calling for is ..... if the intelligence was accurate.... why in the the hell was Biden not imposing sanctions earlier? The same cries came from many Democrats as well. If he considered the sanctions a deterrent as he and several members of his administration claimed, then why wait.
I think Biden secretly knows he screwed up in this regard and that is why he has pivoted from calling the sanctions a "deterrent" and said that they were never intended to "prevent anything."
This is what is so maddening.
Because you don't penalize someone before they commit the crime. You are a fool. Is that so hard to understand?
And, his strategy has worked, oh, so well.
Funny how we put sanctions on other countries (like Iran) before they commit a crime.
But, amassing tens of thousands of troops at the border of Ukraine and Putin saying that he intended to enter on a "peace keeping" mission is somehow now serious enough to warrant serious sanctions.
This is a very unserious administration.
Actually it is working quite well. But I guess it's inconvenient when things work out for Democrats or when they start to look strong on foreign policy, isn't it? Or, when your dear leader and his authoritarian boss suddenly are on the outs. But keep doubling down on losers and losing propositions.

+1
Step up.
The problem with comments like these is that it assumes there are people in Putin's inner circle thinking like an American would.
All is takes is someone who doesn’t want a nuclear war because some nut is on a power trip.
