The whole thing is disgusting. My opinion of Maret at this point is less than zero.

You do realize that DC-resident Maret parents are paying twice for education, don’t you? Once for Maret tuition and assessments and then in the substantial annual income, property as sales taxes that go to support DCPS. It a more just world, private school parents would get a tax rebate to reflect the fact that they are saving the public school system substantial money rather than using public school resources. And yes, Maret kids who live in the Hardy zone no doubt open up student placed at Hardy for kids who otherwise would be stuck with a more s...hole local middle school — and so their parents then get a chance to whine about the shocking social justice inequity that Maret gets a couple of practice hours in exchange for funding capital improvements to a field.
A lot of people pay taxes to support public schools that never use them (think childless adults), just like many of us never use lots of services funded by tax dollars.
If you opt out of public schools, you shouldn’t expect the city to provide the private schools facilities in the same way public schools do.
And your “no doubt” is wrong. Hardy is not overcrowded (for now), so a Hardy-zoned Maret kid is not doing anyone a big favor.
But the bottom line is that your lack of concern for what you consider “s...hole” schools. If they are struggling so badly, you think that is all the more reason to take resources from them?

Lots of public schools don’t offer parking for teachers. Are you saying that they aren’t getting the best teachers?
If the alternative would be to not be able to drive at all, or have to pay significant amounts for parking (that woudl be the case at Hardy)?
Yes. There would be a significant number of teachers who woudl self-select out of Hardy positions, and some of them woudl be better than the teaches at thge school. In fact, many of the people who woudl need a car would be older, more experienced teachers who have kids and for whom mass transit isn't feasible, based on their other obligations.

It’s not as nearby. It used to belong to Duke Ellington school, but just got transferred to DPR. Georgetown Univ. has some deal for some use of it.
Why doesn’t Maret just drive their buses a few blocks more and use it?

Most do, or it’s feasible to park in the neighborhood, and/or they are more accessible by public transit.
