It was the "go along" thing to do.

It's not that getting the shot is "hard" -- it's that we opened ourselves up to being sick for 24-48 hours. It does take at least some courage to put yourself in the position of chills, fever, etc. for 1-2 days.... can't say that the anti-vaxers were willing to take on that burden. Those who got vaccinated DID take on a burden that the anti-vaxxers get to ride-free upon.

Thanks for that information. I've been wondering about that. I also know quite a number of people who drove more than an hour south or west to get vaccinated in the counties that had easily available appointments, when it was difficult to schedule an appointment within Fairfax County. They reasoned that since the demand in Fairfax was so high, they should leave the Fairfax appointments to those who couldn't take the time to go farther. Meanwhile, appointments were easy to find in places like Louisa or Page counties.
I just continued my introverted, shopping-averse lifestyle, until vaccines were plentiful here!

Fairfax county just announced that they are at a 70% vaccination rate.
What you are arguing is not supported by facts. It is an emotional argument, not a factual argument.
The 70% is for over 18 yr olds (adults) and for first doses only.
The facts, are that there are still plenty of people who are at-risk when the virus ticks up in the colder weather. Ride free now, but eventually, the free-riders will have greater risk of catching covid.
I don't expect to be in an auto-accident because I haven't been in one for 30 years.... but I still buy auto insurance every year.
