But, for many people (and I include myself here) I want no part of any more hybrid/shift schedule. Knowing that Mary is open to that does matter to part of the electorate. Likewise, many people feel the opposite. They think APS has been approximately cautious. This is a real difference between the candidates.

This is a misrepresentation. That’s the problem.

How is that a misrepresentation? She put out a communication piece explaining how shifts might work! And her campaign lauded it as "look at Mary, being forward-thinking." Mary's future universes include a possibility where APS runs in shifts. Miranda's does not. That's not a misrepresentation.

Well, Kenmore is the highest poverty MS and not the one MK is zoned for. So, your point is what? Southie here with kids in a Title 1 school and zoned to high poverty MS-HS, voting MK, who has been endorsed by basically all the community advocates who work to help Title 1 ES like mine.

Umm, all the middle schools in Arlington are the same -- its not like elementary or high school where there are any perceived or actual differences in educational quality.
So I'm not really sure how the former PRESIDENT OF THE MCKINLEY PTA (in my mind McKinley is the epitome of a North Arlington school) would somehow be considered better than someone who had the means to send her kid to a private school but chose to send them to Drew. Dislike the candidates for whatever the heck you want, but sending your kids to Drew is very very different from sending your kids to Kenmore. Miranda deserves credit for that.

Person a walked away and reported their version to AEM, characterizing it in one way. Person b showed up and clarified what they said/thought they were conveying/intended to convey.

MK's actual position about the fall:
"APS will offer a full-time, in-person school option next school year. We need to plan and budget for it now."

Her whole point (even back with the shifts) was about planning in advance and coming up with solutions:
"Please note that this was originally published in early April, before Dr. Duran announced that in-person instruction in August would likely not factor in any social distancing measures even if the March 19 CDC guidance is still in effect. I believe APS could have developed a plan that incorporated social distancing had it begun its planning and budgeting work earlier this spring--exactly the point I was making in the piece below."

She has done so many "coffee with the candidate" events during this campaign (outdoors, with masks) so people can ask her questions directly and hear her views.
