Here are today's numbers, before the restrictions are lifted.

You do see that 9 people in the entire state were admitted to the hospital for COVID yesterday? And 14 died? As high risk folks get vaccinated, the case counts will be irrelevant. In fact, they will contribute to the herd immunity that you are seeking. If you are "very worried," it means that you are not qualified to make public health policy.

Not necessarily. The change is +9 I’m not arguing that this is the case, but as many as 810 people could have been admitted to the hospital yesterday IF 801 people previously in the hospital were discharged.

My concern is the number of people vaccinated — which is still quite low, and even lower among some higher risk demographic groups.
I think a better plan would be to get all of the teachers vaccinated, get the kids back in schools, and at least get the people in group 2 vaccinated. My ideal would be to aim for opening up by Memorial Day weekend, with every adult who wants one able to be at least partially vaccinated.

I don’t disagree with the categories, but there are a lot of very high risk people out there who aren’t yet eligible to even sign up for a vaccine.

LOL. They’re afraid people are going to start having parties again, that they won’t get invited to.

No, I'm afraid the people I have to work with will be out partying with the Rona and will bring it back to work, since I can't get a vaccine yet. I don't care if people have fun, I don't care if people spit at each other maskless, I just don't want to have to work with them.

Wait - are masks no longer required?

Masks are still required, even by Governor Hogan and his new former-Trump-administration bestie.

WHY THE NUMBERS DON'T ADD UO???

Add these two numbers:
POSITIVE TOTAL CASES
NEGATIVE TOTAL CASES

They dont reflect the total number performed tests.

So what about 4 million missing test results per this data? Inconclusive?

Please try to balance the numbers below. Good luck. You will need it; Unless you know better math then us all:

It’s the new math - it doesn’t conform to your outdated standards.

12 - 3 = 15. As an engineer, I am not sure that's right. Let check my slide rule.

It's almost as if those low numbers ARE BECAUSE OF THE CLOSURES AND WILL IMMEDIATELY CHANGE FOR THE WORSE WHEN THINGS OPEN UP BEFORE EVERYONE IS VACCINATED JUST LIKE HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR YOU EMPTY-HEADED WASTE OF OXYGEN!

Yeah, I don't understand these people either. But figure there will be more herd immunity for me. We need to get the kids back in school first, but I guess Maryland has to open up for as many people as possible to get drunk and spread the Rona on St. Patrick's day.

The Maryland COVID Dashboard has an FAQ that explains the numbers.

Testing Volume
Testing volume data represent the static daily total of PCR COVID-19 tests electronically reported.
This count does not include test results submitted by labs and other clinical facilities through
non-electronic means.

Why don't confirmed cases added to persons tested negative equal total test volume?
Testing volume is total tests ever administered; it is not the sum of total confirmed cases plus
persons tested negative. A person will be counted multiple times in testing volume data but not in
positive or negative case numbers.

The FAQs can be found here:

https://phpa.health.maryland.gov/Documents/faq_covid19_data_dashboard_083120pdf.pdf

Still FIVE MILLION people tests is a whole LOT of double testing. WHOLE LOT!

Well - I personally have to tested every two weeks for my job - going back to about August (all negative by the way).

There's nothing missing. The daily report is 23,412 tests reported, 900 new cases, and 5,265 people who have never been tested before testing negative in the batch of tests being reported.

The same person can (and often does) test positive more than once, but they only count as one case.

So this should be reflected in numbers somehow??? Otherwise it looks very Swiss cheased.
