We don't want the government involved, right? Isn't that the worst thing that can happen?

Dead bodies are a picnic. Paying enormous power bills to line the wallets of corporate overloads is our god-given birthright.

I think that the aid should come with regulatory force, too. You’re right. They’ll just be back with their friends for more handouts.

This isn’t like a volcano that grew out of a field and erupted suddenly. This is a culmination of a series of very clear decisions that a majority of citizens in that state undertook. You would think that the luminaries in the deregulatory field - Abbott, Perry, Cruz, Cornyn - would be stepping up to assist.

I don't think TX should be bailed out. Why? This is the government they chose. While TX is gerrymandered, they could have voted out this governor.

It's like they don't realize they are just cosplaying gunslingers in the wild, wild west, and they can't believe the bullets are real.

The bullets are real, guys. That's why we have regulation. When you say "we're tough, we can take care of ourselves, we don't need your help," you kind of have to commit to being tough, taking care of yourself, and not needing help, or it starts to looks a little like performative virtue.

No... because it’s all about abortions and socialism!

Which they likely won't even realize is just what they're asking for now to help them out of this mess.

Texas doesn’t regulate anything. Going to be a miserable few months as a homeowner.

It’s okay. Texas has entered phase 1 of the state’s emergency response plan. This is a well thought out plan, millions of tax dollars were spent over many year to develop this plan. The first and only phase of this plan is ....ever man for himself!
