He said that was possible and still being discussed, but that for Fall 2020 groupings would more likely be based on geography so that no hotel stays were required for games or tournaments.

I’ve heard that Arlington has applied to ECNL for both boys and girls and is in ongoing discussions. Unknown whether boys would do both ECNL (for most teams) and MLS (for two teams) or if that’s an option. If ECNL doesn’t admit the girls, then likely will go GAL along with the other local former DA clubs as there were bad experiences for Arlington girls last year with EDP, because EDP is Maryland based, it accommodates the MD HS soccer schedule and not the VA high school soccer schedule. If that changes maybe EDP becomes an option too. But first choice is ECNL, and that is still on the table.
Thanks for sharing. It makes sense from club viewpoint.
However the msg from last to the travel teams is confusing...
"While we are disappointed with the news, please know that the technical staff and I have been working diligently to choose the proper pathway for all of our loyal families in light of this development. I actively participate in meetings with DA clubs throughout the country discussing options for the future of league play for the most competitive level in the club."
Looks like from the msg the MLS/GAL are in discussion too.
From a parent and player in ECNL we hope you do get in. Great competition for our ECNL clubs around the DMV. I know McLean won’t like it but they will have enough talent coming to them from FCV and MU.. good luck! Hope to see you all on the field.
Clubs will go GAL. Top talent will leave to play ECNL.
GAL would be the backup option for girls. But ECNL remains Arlington’s preferred option for both boys and girls. Ball is in ECNL’s court.
Has Arlington applied to ECNL?
Yes. Boys and girls.

Considering ECNL just added three clubs, and none from VA... there’s your sign.
