As of Thursday, the Wisconsin Election Commission reported more than 200,000 absentee ballots sent to voters had not been reported as returned.

And more than 12,000 absentee ballots requested by voters were never reported as sent to them, according to the election commission’s data.
No results until Monday.

People I know in Green Bay stood in line for THREE HOURS yesterday.

How do you spell “Republican”? “L-I-A-R.”

“The city is directing all voting Tuesday to take place at East High School and West High School instead of the 31 churches, schools and other facilities typically used as polling places. The move comes after the majority of Green Bay's poll workers said they won't work to avoid potential exposure to COVID-19.

I am in Green Bay. This is 100% on our mayor and staff. Period. No matter what the state did or did not do, we still had the duty to get ready for an election and completely and horribly failed at that. 400 poll worker trained National Guardsmen stood by to help and we turned them down. We could have had several more polling locations ready to roll.

Idiots
So now Hungary is not the only country where democratic freedoms are taken away

With the way things are going, we just might be heading to Marshall law

But of course.

Wow. And what would the US say about this 'election' if it took place in sub-Saharan Africa?

And thanks to Wisconsin's sacrifice, we will have it. Naysayers notwithstanding.

I mostly agree with this but do have some concerns. My mother-in-law has suffered multiple strokes and although she can still sign her name, she has a confused idea of the outside world. Would it be wrong for me to help her fill out a mail-in election form and then have her sign it?

She has previously said that she hopes she lives long enough to see Donald Trump put into prison so I do know what her preference would be.

There is a process in place for those with various disabilities. If she intends to vote, get on the paperwork ASAP. How do you think quadriplegics vote, for example?

And, by the way, completely addled (and drunk, high, otherwise impaired) people walk into voting booths and vote all the time.

Yeah. Republicans.

I meant by PAYING them to stay at home and teach their children. For instance, someone has 2 kids, and right now makes $15/hour or $600/week. We would PAY them $600/week for homeschooling instead. This is less than we are paying people to be on unemployment and much less than we pay teachers (some of whom could instead go onto unemployment while they are furloughed for the year).

This may come as a revelation, but teachers have four year degrees, at a minimum, and are trained how to teach. Someone who is making $15/hr is unlikely to have a degree and is not trained to teach. Believe it or not, there is actual skill involved in teaching. We already have enough uneducated morons in this country, a point that we’ve all been made painfully aware of over the last three years. Plus you’re completely ignoring the socialization that goes on in a school environment. And the last thing we need is a bunch of fundamentalists teaching their kids from a religious point of view. And - oh, yeah - the teachers, people who have spent a lot of time and money to learn a profession. How about you get furloughed for a year and take a big pay cut on unemployment; I’m sure that would do wonders for your motivation. BTW, I’m not a teacher.

Someone a few pages back said it would be interesting to see the difference in the results between the absentee vote and the in person vote. Apparently we won’t see that.

You still have to be PAYING the teachers who are developing the curriculum. I, like just about every other parent in America, is “homeschooling.” I’m not homeschooling my kid no matter how much someone might pay me; what I’m doing right now I consider to be kind of war work. It is not the same thing as my kids’ regular schooling, but I will do it if I need to. It should not be used in lieu of actual leadership and action.
