His order, which also applies to visitors to the sheriff’s office, carves out an exception for officers in some locations, including hospitals, and when dealing with people who are high-risk or suspected of having the novel coronavirus.

Their attitude toward climate change seems sort of similarly beyond nihilistic - nihilism would be like "well who cares" while they actually seem to actively pursue death.

Every time any of us gets in a car we know we could die, but we risk it to go to work, meet friends for dinner, take the kids to our parents’ houses for thanksgiving.
He was an older man with several risk factors who decided to go out and about rather than spend the foreseeable future isolated from society, watching the world go by on tv or from his window.
That was his choice.
