Well, believe it or not, my 13 year old hasn't seen any friends in person since school ended. My 16 yo hasn't seen any friends since the week after that when her employer closed down. So definitely no friends seen in the last two weeks...they're keeping in touch by text and, occasionally, Face Time. I'm sorry that your kids are untrustworthy enough that you're unable to believe other teens can understand the seriousness of this situation and follow the guidelines.

My college and HS students (both boys) have not seen their friends since school let out in mid-March. Why is this so hard to believe?

My 14-year old has seen one friend when we dropped off something at their house. We stayed about 10 feet away and talked for a short while. Otherwise, she walks the dog through our neighborhood on a pre-determined route (she knows I track her randomly) and that's it. Her dog walk route, which she usually discusses with me before she leaves, is not past any friends' houses.

It’s really not so difficult. My 15 yr old has done zoom chats, made up zoom quiz shows with friends, and spent more time with parents and younger sib in the last month than in the entire year prior. All while we see our neighbor teens have kids over—from 4 separate families—including a boyfriend and girlfriend who are v clearly not distancing.

My three closest friends with teens are all taking it as seriously as we are.

No. None. Because It is not just one friend. It is exposure to every person that friend saw. It sucks. But people breaking the rules are making this harder on all of us. I will never be able to respect them again.

Our 16-year old DD hasn’t been out the house for a month, except to walk with mom or dad. Her social group is doing meet-ups online.
