The family is now suing the woman, Trump (!), and the U.K. Foreign Office. And they say Americans are litigious!

Just another European trying to rip off an American. It was an accident. I hope disallows themftom coming back into the USA.

Yeah, because that's way more heinous than crushing the internal organs of a 19-year-old with your SUV driven on the wrong side of the road.

I’m no Trump fan but wth does he have to do with this? They are pissed she had immunity and are trying to circumvent it. They claim they just want to talk to her but only on their terms. They are in the news practically everyday with some new statement by their lawyer. Every avenue they have tried has been a dead end. I highly doubt she will be extradited and I think they know it.

They are trying to build pressure domestically to get the UK to issue an extradition warrant. The UK can still issue it, even if she had diplomatic immunity while in the UK. Her diplomatic immunity is over. This will prevent her from traveling abroad, as other countries would extradite her if they honor UK extradition requests.

It's the only move they have right now. I don't blame them.

They may get the U.K. to charge her, but she will never return to the U.K. The NSA told them this bluntly in front of Trump. At some point they are just pounding a brick wall. I guess it makes them feel better. I don’t think it would make me feel better.

What a horrible example she has set for her children. Cause a grievous accident resulting in the death of someone young innocent son than cut and run. She deserves the result. Face your mistakes. Own up. UK is a friendly nation.

Well according to the posters on the cruise line baby death thread, killing someone by accident is punishment enough. You shouldn’t be charged for your carelessness.

That's fine. But it effectively puts an end to her husband's overseas career (at least with the family in tow). No vacations to Europe or Commonwealth countries either. Basically, the Dunn's are trying to put up as many barriers as possible to letting her enjoy life.

I get it - it's vengeful and they are scorned. I hope they get the financial compensation they deserve.

Well better than going to jail. Maybe they can get somebody’s insurance to pay them. Otherwise probably out of luck there too.

I hope it all gets dismissed too. Their ambulance chasing attorney is giving them false hope to run up his bill (being paid by gofundme.) He seems truly awful. And he keeps saying her husband didn’t qualify for immunity when both the US and U.K. have confirmed he was covered. They should spend the money on grief counseling instead of their scumbag lawyer.

They are basically using this as blackmail to get her back to the U.K.

Donald Trump’s national security adviser heaped pain and grief on the parents of a British teenager killed in a car crash by trying to hold a meeting at the White House between them and a U.S. diplomat’s wife who was involved, the parents’ lawyer said.

Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn were invited to a surprise meeting with the U.S. president at his office on Wednesday where they were further shocked to learn that Anne Sacoolas, the American woman involved in the fatal crash, was in the building.

Mark Stephens, the lawyer for Charles and Dunn, said national security adviser Robert O’Brien had the idea of overseeing a coming together of the families before they would then hug in front of an assembled media.

“(O’Brien has) heaped grief and pain on the family by making them go through this but not allowing them to get the closure they need by talking to Mrs Sacoolas before they can go onto the grieving stage,” Stephens told BBC radio on Thursday.

The parents are in pain. They have also been begging to speak with the woman. This was a poor idea. They cannot have what they really want: their son back. Painful situation for all.

They want to meet the woman in the UK, not be ambushed in the White House with a photo op.

I still fail to see how they think any of this is going to make them feel better. It isn’t.

Trump didn't need to get involved with this. And they don't need to meet her.

They just need justice at this point.

Sacoolas should stop running from the law and head back to face the penalties for her fatal actions.

She's not. She cooperated with authorities, and left the country 3 weeks later to return home.

What did I miss? It's a terrible accident, but still a accident. Has a prosecutor ordered her back? No. Currently she's under no order to return.

Did she notify the authorities before she left the country?

The police were told they couldn't investigate because she had immunity. Remove the immunity and let them investigate. Don't abuse diplomatic immunity.

She left with the advice and permission of the US Government, on whose authority she was even there in the first place.

Did she notify the BRITISH authorities before she left the country?

The BRITISH police were told they couldn't investigate because she had immunity. Remove the immunity and let them investigate.

This is an abuse of diplomatic immunity.

She did not require their permission to leave. Even the British government acknowledges this.

Did she notify them? No.

Were they able to investigate the death? No.

No justice was served here.

What do they need to investigate? She admitted it, and they have it on security film.

Seems pretty relevant.

My mistake. I was confusing the Georgian with a Yemeni envoy who stabbed someone and was allowed to leave. The Georgian was drunk. Still worse to me than a pure accident.

But it doesn’t matter what I think. Even the U.K. has no plans to prosecute this woman. The only question is when they will tell the Dunns this.
