Didn't Chelsea and the Bush twins have protection in college? I remember reading about it, and of course the Bush twins had a few jinks of their own and the protection weren't allowed to get involved other than just make sure they were not under threat.

Their dads were president while they were in college. Sasha is no longer a child of a president but child of an former president.

Chelsea was in college while her father was still president (at least she started). Same with Jenna and Barbara Bush.

The rules were changed during Obama's presidency to give former presidents' lifetime protection (post-Clinton to Obama it was limited to 10 years thanks to a law Congress passed). The Obama-era legislation specifically limited post-presidency children to age 16 or younger.

Didn't she pick Michigan so she could go with 2 of her friends? That doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. Wish I'd had one of my very good high school friends with me when I went from a sheltered all-girls school to the Ivy League. It would have helped.
