UVA is lovely on the lawn but once you get near the dorms, blegh. Bland city.

Notre Dame (my alma mater) is also considered beautiful but not many have ever seen the mud swamps and lake-effect puddles at the end of winter. Plus, I don't know what you think about 9 straight months of gray weather, but that's pretty darn ugly too. No small amount of pretty buildings can sway you out of seasonal depression after that.

Tennessee, Texas A&M, most of South Carolina, aren't great from what I've seen. Ole Miss and Vandy are nice, LSU has some good characteristics. Haven't seen Kentucky, Mississippi State, or Florida in any detail.

I took a summer class. The campus is gorgeous during the summer. I used the pool and gym and took in the touring companies in the Arts. No parking issues during summer.

Lovely language. And you clearly don't know anything about Fairfax or GMU. Or you have an axe to grind. Either way, I don't care.

I can appreciate people have different tastes. But to say it's a crap school and ugly is beyond wrong and shows you're uninformed. Many of the HS kids in the area seriously considered GMU this year -these are kids who got into schools like UVA- but opted against b/c it was too close to home and they wanted to branch out. But they universally gushed over their programs and the campus.


And people are allowed to think it’s blah without being called childish.

Does the Fairfax campus tour allow you to see one of these newer student dorms with the updated hotel-like design? It might sway some students to GMU if they see how comfortable the living conditions are.



Nope. We’ve been on 2 recent tours and only see outsode of residence halls.

For me Harvey Mudd is the winner, possibly because it’s adjacent to two gorgeous campuses, Scripps and Pomona.
