It's a continuing problem in all levels of the game. Not enough refs available to start and they don't pay the refs enough.

The refs in this tournament need to be re-trained! The games got way out of hand because fouls were not called on either sides. 11 year boys will be boys and will get physical when they know they can get away with it. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt. The tournament should find better quality of refs that ensure there is a safe game.

So apparently the u16 games that got got cancelled we’re due to the turf fields at the Soccerplex being unplayable because of the snow.
There’s a lot of problems you can plan for when you’re running a tournament, but unplayable turf fields isn’t one of them.

What's kind of a shame is that there are plenty of turf fields in DC at schools like Sidwell, St. Albans, NCS, St. Johns, WIS etc that would be great for an event like this, but apparently the zoning regulations prohibit those schools from hosting events like this.
