Newsflash: people have different priorities and different levels of wealth. Some will spend more than you on travel, homes, clothes, engagement rings, and yes, education.

I am fairly rich, not flashy and send my kids to public. IMHO, if private schools were better I would have send them to private schools.

I don't! I'm a public school parent in MoCo, and I've never seen anyone carry a YSL purse at our school.
I'm at a 22207 public, and I've never seen anyone carry a YSL bag.
That is because those are some truly trashy-looking handbags. I don't care what anyone spent on it.
As a designer, the YSL logo pains me.

We are DCUM poor and could put our kid through a $40K school. Pay off the house with savings and then that money can go to a private (which we may do as we are not happy in public). If you buy a modest house, its very doable for many.

What if private is not for my kids. Lots of talk how public is not for my kids. My kids do very well in public.
They way prices are now, it's easier to buy million plus house than put 2-3 kids through private.
We do schooling at home and would do regardless or private or public. We can't fake a bigger house in a better location.
