He added that she didn’t see.

And how I dare not get angry, complain, but instead I should just smile and take crap from sanctimonious people like the previous poster who stand ready quick to critize in the event of any deviation from the Stepford-type mode aimed at ensuring white people dont get flustered.
Go Serena!

This is why I avoid black women, no matter how accomplished. Reality is they can't handle emotion like normal people. Sometimes life is unfair. You accept it and move on. She KNOWS she was going to lose so to turn this into -- oh I'm a competitor, I ALWAYS turn around matches at the end and this ref stopped me -- yeah BS.
And I bet you are all smiles and as sweet as honey when around black people. Right?
This kind of mentality didn't suddenly begin on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Black people know we've never been liked, here.
This is America.

That’s what this is about. Serena’s behavior during a tough situation. She didn’t handle it well. And, she doesn’t get a pass because she’s a mom, or a black woman or a super athlete.
She didn't "handle it well" because she was being treated unfairly. How would any of us react in the same situation, playing a championship game and having, first, one point, and then, an entire game handed to our opponent? If there is any point in life where a person needs to stand up for herself, this is it. If we don't stand up for ourselves during a tough moment, when will we?
Stop trying to make sense to these posters. You know most of them would never stand up for themselves. That’s why women are always the perpetual losers. They rarely fight back. They need a me too moment and require someone else to step forward first.
Women are still punished for speaking up like adults. If we do we are overly emotional. Serena was trying to be reasonable but knew what the guy did was never done. He did it to her during a final of a major and she was in shock. It just doesn't happen. Women are punished for speaking up where it is accepted from men.

I didn't see this but I instantly wondered....
Is there any chance that the chair ump was paying her back and making things difficult for her because of that body suit bruhaha?
"You make things tough for us, we'll make things tough on you."
No. Just no. That was the French tennis association and how does her wearing a body suit make things tough for them? This has to be the most insane comment on this thread. And btw, there was no bruhaha. Serena accepted their judgement and made it clear she was ok with the decision.

Chair umpire has absolutely nothing to do with dress rules for an event. Nothing at all. What a stupid statement.
Well excuse me! I was not aware that the chair ump lived in such a tight bubble that they would never form a personal opinion about something like that body suit incident. I'll bet those chair umps never, ever talk to any other authorities in the sport.....never mind!
Actually, another female player was warned by an umpire at the US Open. She put her new shirt on backwards during a break, so took it off on court to reverse it once she realized, exposing (gasp) a sports bra. People were pointing out the hypocrisy given that the guys sit there with bare chests all the time.

So much stupidity on this thread and so many idiotic comments from people that didn't watch the match and know nothing about tennis. Bottom line, Osaka was the better player last night and deserved the win. What she didn't deserve was the juvenile tantrum from her opponent spoiling her moment.
