Make sure you write her a long and judgemental letter to tell her all about it. You should probably call CPS, too. In fact, you should call the children's school to warn them the whole family is now damaged. How dare they not hide in their shame.

I don't know. Mental illness is real. Suicide is real and it's increasing. Maybe if we didn't treat it as taboo people would feel more able to discuss their feelings openly and we could prevent attempts like this.

There have been so many comments on her giving advice. Look, the "advice" she gives is, like, how to get started with cloth diapers, what to put on a baby registry. how to dress your postpartum body, how to navigate if your kid has severe allergies, what hairstyle suits your face and lifestyle. It's all pretty light and not at all heavy handed or "this is THE right answer", it's just some personal feedback to people who write in. Of all the piling on happening in this thread, that is the most ridiculous. She's not giving advice on how to avoid or navigate mental illness, or have a perfect life, ffs.

Bloggers are attention seekers and want attention. Suicide attempts and following through are an attention getter. You have to wonder ... and why would you post so much personal information your kids can find later on about both them and you.

Yeah, this is all very dangerous for any unstable followers she may have. Plus, she posts about a suicide attempt and gets tons of praise and warmth from cyberspace strangers. I think that is much better than getting criticism of negativity of any kind for illness, but what message does it send? The support from her immediate circle should be enough. Who knows which of her fans is desperate for this sort of attention too. She is mentally ill and I wish her mental health, stability, strength and happiness. I'm sure having an online diary is healthy.

Plus, she is profiting from this breakdown in a way, though of course I don't think that was her intention. She gets companies to pay her for mads based on how many clicks she can bring in. Her numbers are going up. I don't think she did it on purpose, but now there is another form of reinforcement for highly alarming behavior.

She needs to step away from the internet and focus solely on her family and maintaining her mental health. It may feel good to vent and get fanmail, but in the end I wonder if it will keep her from truly becoming healthy.

I was more sympathetic before the post today ... what a SHOCK, someone who posts graphic details about their suicide attempt gets lots and lots of people expressing love and support. REALLY?! Imagine that!

I think her actions were tragically sincere, as she clearly has some psych issues to work through. But posting all her business on the internet and then acting all (faux-)modestly surprised that it generated a sh*t-ton of squeeeeee we loooooove you is an icky attention grab.
