A white friend of mine had an Asian MIL. The MIL refused to speak to her and called the marriage a disgrace. They divorced eventually. Very sad. It’s hard to understand why MILs can be mean to the woman that their son loves.

Not sure how I can convince my wife to get over this. Thoughts?


I applaud you for finding and posting on this message board. My idea: Get your shii-ey wife to meet up with your son and daughter-in-law at Eden Center. People bond over food. Take them to your favorite place there (I like Huong Viet, and I'm white and blonde). Lie to your shii-ey wife and say the blonde is extremely well-educated, comes from a very wealthy family, and that family employed Vietnamese people. She'll never know. She doesn't get online and doesn't know how to even use the Internet, right?

Next: Ask your daughter-in-law if she'd be willing to have a traditional Vietnamese wedding in addition to an American wedding, so you can separate out all those racist folks in your culture and the white people can have their own wedding without Asian bitches judging every thing little at the event.

I've solved all of your problems, except for the grandkids. That's going to be tough and unsolvable.

Actually I am traditional Asian, I am not even an immigrant here, we are just staying a couple of years in the US due to my husband's employment.
My parents back home, both in their early 70s and who don't speak English at all, have never voiced an opinion like this.

I'm not sure what kind of 'traditional' values you were raised on, but please don't give us a bad impression with your skewed views.

Nonsense, certain areas of Asia were advance for a period more advanced than Europe of course that did not last. I am not sure how she would "have a point" given large portions are poverty stricken and underdeveloped. There is a reason future mother in law left.

She may have "values education, money, and keeping a clean house" or she maybe giving tug jobs for $40 and living in a shack cooking stray dogs for dinner. Aren't stupid stereo types fun?
