I get where you are coming from, I really do - and I don't mean to deny or dismisses anyone else's experiences growing up, but as a biracial woman who spent some of my childhood in all white neighborhoods and schools, trust and believe me when I say I had some pretty f**&ed up experiences as a kid. I wish I had once felt pretty when I was a kid. Meghan grew up in a predominantly white suburb of LA.

As a biracial/black woman, I find this really disingenuous. People here are downplaying her blackness because she has light skin, The fact is that when you have a black blood and it is known, you absolutely do catch a lot of anti-block backlash. Growing up, anytime I made a mistake, I was "black" and the fact that I was also half white was almost irrelevant in terms of the severity of the penalties people sought and how I was treated as a bad black person. It is only one good things happened to me or I had done something good that white people wanted to tacitly take credit for that I was spoke of as just a white person with a tan. Light or dark, mixed or full, rich or poor, black people catch a very unique hell in Western societies. Short of hiding her black parent, there is no way that Meghan escaped this.
