Do you think it's a good idea for an 05 boy to play up with the 04 DA if asked to? Or to request that he stay with his current A team and play 05 DA next year, not 04 DA? He isn't that big, I worry about him getting knocked down a lot and injured.
He has been practicing with the 04 DA the last few weeks and doing well.

if youre a current U11 its a question of if you want to try out the format or its worth switching clubs for a year or not. If you stick it out for a year with the new format, 1 year of it may not make a huge difference.
For Current U10s and especially the U9s (and rising U9) so the 2007s, 2008s, and 2009s theres more of a decision to make.

I may have mentioned DC Stoddert before... Karen Kelser is working the U11/U12 age groups and she is a very good teacher of the game to both to players and other coaches. I have a lot of respect for her expertise.

Bethesda - I think Sam Roos the daughter of Brad Roos. I'm sure she's been around soccer since age 1 and knows what she's doing.

That's about all that stands out to me at the moment.
Let's pretend commute distance is not a factor here - these would be my choices
1. SYA - Carolyn Rice, my #1 choice here.
2. Arlington - Team seems to be doing very, very well
3. Loudon - Quality age group staff coaches across the board, mutiple teams

5. Bethesda - Sam Roos, Bethesda has good girls teams every year

So you wouldn't send your daughter to Braddock Road to try the new U12 training/scrimmage only programming they are switching to? Perhaps they are not on list because you don't know who the coach is this year? They are still in CCL, but leaving the league next year.
If I can piggy back on this question.
Coach what is your take on the BRYC change to a scrimmage only league prior to ECNL? I have heard the case that games dont develop players etc however I feel that it does to motive kids to play. Also thinking long term in regards to the travel should my child make it on the ECNL team.

That is correct. From what I have heard, the scrimmage only trend has started in england among big-name youth academies at younger age groups whose coaches felt the pressure to win every single game because of their name brand.
Like man united, arsenal, etc has U9 and U10 teams and there is a lot of pressure on those kids to win games because of the club they play for. So scrimmaging makes sense in that case because they are aiming to develop future professionals out of already elite elite youth players that have already been identified and scouted out of literally thousands of boys.
Im not sure if that translates well to the US just yet. I believe BRYC is trying to follow suit in that way but I dont think pulling teams out of leagues is going to be a magic pill that somehow makes all of the players better.
