I would never in a million years do this but I think you should MYOB.

Also it's rare that drop off or pick up takes more than 5 minutes (usually less) unless we go to the playground or stay and chat with parents. And I'm speaking with teachers/director, walking to 2nd floor class, signing in/out, putting away snacks and supplies.

Unstrap kid
Walk up sidewalk
Stop to pick flowers
Open door
Walk down hallway to class
Say hi to teacher so she knows kid is there
Kid needs to potty and needs help
Sign papers for field trips, upcoming events; Read classroom updates.
Say bye to kid in window
Go back to kid for extra hug
Walk back down hallway
Stop at front desk to sign roster (so if there is a fire, rescuers will know your child was present and will search until found). This is required and there is always a line.
Out door
Back down sidewalk to car

None of these things takes that long. But there are alot of things. And kids walk slow. This is 10-15 minutes for me. I go fast too. I would challenge any of you to a race.


Then I would win by a long shot. It takes me 5 minutes, tops.

And how would you feel watching someone break the window and take your baby, or watch a car in motion smash into your parked car with your baby inside? Can't really do much from inside, can you? Yes, the baby snatching is a long shot but the car hitting your parked car is a legitimate concern. I've seen multiple accidents like that in our daycare parking lot. Too many people going way too fast just thinking about themselves and where they need to be. Or looking down at a phone. Or reaching to give something to their kid. It happens all the time. I would never forgive myself if I chose to not inconvenience myself by bringing in my sleeping baby. Would you?


If people are driving like that in your daycare parking lot, you should probably switch facilities.

But I bet you drive with them everyday. Sorry, you don't get to play holier than thou on this thread. Kids are much more likely to be n car accidents than they are in car jackings. Or left to die in hot cars, for that matter.

That baby is more at risk when her mother gets back into the car, puts it in drive, and pulls out onto the street. How come nobody reports parents for driving with their children in the car?
